Just wanted to give a quick update. We got great news yesterday that her spinal fluid is clear so she won't have to have radiation. Thank the Lord!! She started treatment yesterday so we're already down the road to recovery.

I couldn't be more proud of her! She's just taking everything in stride. She loves her long hair so I was really afraid of what the affect of losing it would have on her. Last night she was wig shopping and said, "if I'm going to lose my hair I may as well have something fun." I love her so much…

Quick update...She's done so well with her treatment and her numbers are so good that she was able to come home!!!! She's so happy to be home as are we. We pick up with out-patient treatments on Friday.

I'm Very happy to read above that your daughter is doing well. It's one of those very tough parenting moments. And your heart just breaks that it's happening to a child and in some ways not yourself. Hang in there and just take it one day at a time.

I believe everyone in this thread is sincere and I'm glad you shared your story. It definitely helps to not feel so "alone" although in many ways I wish I were. I wouldn't want anyone to go through this or something similar. They're just innocent kids enjoying their life. But we'll all come out of this stronger with a greater appreciation for life than we had before.

I wanted to take a quick minute to provide an update on my daughter.

She finished Phase 1 of her treatment on Friday. As part of that she had a spinal tap which continues to show that her spinal fluid is clear. This is to be expected given that the very first test was clear as well. She also had her port installed which will be used for the remainder of her treatment.

Now for the best news of all... Her bone marrow biopsy on 11/10 showed 39% blast (leukemia) cells. Her bone marrow biopsy from yesterday showed ZERO blast (leukemia) cells!!! That's right - NONE! We're still waiting for the more detailed results which we'll have next Wednesday, but this preliminary result shows that her treatment is working.

We really appreciate everyone's kind words and thank you for keeping her in your thoughts.
