Hey! Things are going great! My apologies for not being around much lately. We had a "normal" Thanksgiving - family drama and all. It was nice because we obviously missed out on that last year.

We're going to the doctor once a month now with our next visit next Tuesday. Her hair is growing back in so fast. She dyed it a bright shade of red. I was looking back at some photos from months ago and I was genuinely shocked at how much hair she had actually lost. At the time, I didn't really notice. I suppose it's because I was with her every day and it happened gradually over time but it's very obvious looking back now. Seeing those photos made me so sad to see her going through this BS. Through it all, she's continued to be the strongest person I know. Continuing to push forward despite it all. I strive to be like her. Congrats MadBimmeRad - you've brought tears to my eyes.

Johanna is also playing in the middle school band (trumpet) and her first concert is next week as well. She's also playing bass guitar in the school Jazz band which is pretty cool. She's been pretty occupied with school - another quarter of straight A's - and is looking forward to Christmas break. She's actively working on assembling the Eiffel Tower Lego set and it should keep her busy for a while since it's their largest set at 10,001 pieces!

I did do a crazy thing last week though. I purchased Johanna and I meet-and-greet tickets for Metallica in Aug 2024! I know it's a long way off, but that will be a special Father-Daughter cancer ass kicking celebration!! We can't wait!

I'm so happy that things are headed in the right direction for you! I think you and your daughter have been an inspiration for so many people. Can't wait to see photos of the Metallica gig - please record the "Enter Sandman" set for me - love that track!

We last saw them at ATLive in Nov '21. She started running a fever the next morning, was admitted to the hospital, and then less than a week later we got her diagnosis. This will be our triumphant full circle!! I wanted to see them in a dome stadium so we don't have to worry about weather. I'd actually looked at Glendale but she won't be done with treatment by then, so we're going to Minneapolis. I'm so pumped to meet those guys. I've been following them since I was in high school. Yes, I'm old. hahahaha

Woah, she’s way ahead of me! I’ve only just cracked open box two the other night and have now finished two of the four legs (?) of the tower.

I’m jealous of the meet and greet with Metallica for sure. Been a fan of theirs as well for a long time. I got to see them a few years back and definitely the loudest concert I’ve ever been too. Rattled my chest and I had timing in my ears for two days afterwards. I’ll make sure to bring hearing protection should I go again next year. 😬

That will be a pretty cool story to tell those guys as well with regards to her diagnosis and now coming around full circle again and getting to meet them.

I just told J about you working on the same Lego and she said, "That's so cool!" She said she wants me to keep posting pics of her progress so more to come.

Their shows can be brutally loud. I've got pairs of musician quality earplugs so it's like listening to the radio. I guess I know who I am in the "If it's too loud, then you're too old" saying.

Haha, she’ll probably be done before I’m half way at the rate she’s going. I only usually get an hour or so each night if I’m lucky.

Link to the earplugs you have? I have yet to find a pair that I’m 100% happy with for concerts.
