So is the consensus that with ventilated seats keep the seat more upright? I just got my car a few days ago and it is giving me low back pain.

Pain or numbness is likely more a result of seating position/adjustment than ventilation. Ventilated seats may be slightly firmer than seats without it, but the difference should be discernible to only the princess & the pea. Try different lumbar and backrest angles to relieve pressure points and/or provide greater support. Seat height factors in this, too, albeit less obviously.

As previous posters advised, try to find a position which keeps limbs slightly bent and your setback more upright than reclined e.g., ~70° from horizontal).

Thanks for the response. I seem to slowly be finding a better position. It’s odd I’ve always been able to hop into a car and not fiddle much with the seat settings. Maybe I’m just getting old…

Not a big deal overall, but I'd like to see the dead pedal be an inch wider. I find that the left thigh bolster in both the standard and carbon buckets dig into my left leg because the DP is to far left. Notice it mostly on track days and longer drives. 1st world problems

You know what’s funny I just got the car this week and I was worried the seats were hurting my back. Then I remembered I did a case at work in a very awkward position for hours the day before I picked it up. It wasn’t the car it was work…

I’m starting to find the seats very supportive and adjustable! Loving the ventilated seats too considering it has been unseasonably warm in Austin.

Please no not take this advice. Stay far away from any track in SoCal.

Thanks.

I find that the best way to avoid back pain is to change your seating position every 30-60 minutes or so of driving. I program 1 and 2 to two positions I find comfortable and swap between the two. Our bodies get aches and pains from the muscles fatiguing from being in the same position too long. Just switch it up. I believe some high end Mercedes have this feature built in.

Also, a healthy does of exercises meant to strengthen your core does a lot to alleviate muscle oain. I’m not the slimmest person, but I work out at least 3 times a week with a trainer that incorporates some kind of core strengthening for all my workouts. That means a lot of free weights and kettle bells etc. no machines.

Glad to find this thread. I just got my G80 and I'm having neck pain.

I have a pinched nerve that isn't going away anytime soon so I need to figure this out. I'm pretty sure mine's a combo of seat position/orientation, the fact I'm not totally comfortable yet so I'm a bit tense, and the fact that I'm constantly playing with all the entertainment tech so I'm head up/down with my bifocals.

Old banged up man stuff.

You will laugh but I was relatively new to BMWs when I got my M2 Comp 2 years ago. I did not know for 6 months that you can "twist" (pushing upward on the front of the seat button and downwards on the rear of the seat button simultaneously) the seat adjustment button. Once my detailer showed me this (punching myself in the face repeatedly) seat comfort got better exponentially.

Damn, just re-read your post, I don't know if the Carbon Seats are adjustable in that fashion.

It’s funny cause I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to change the tilt. Got a lot more comfortable after I figured this out. I was just trying to push and nothing would happen. Twisting does the trick lol.

I spent a good bit of time driving around yesterday while fiddling with seat position. Now I wish I had thought to save my starting point as preset 2.

I'll watch the videos, but I'm now using a higher seating position with a more upright seat back. I'm not as comfortable but my visibility and neck are better.
