I don’t know what to say.
I was totally against the design like the entire rest of the world. I was aghast.
I was horrified.

And then,

Today I looked at the G80 in a photo and I thought… damn, that’s a good looking car.
I proceeded to check my temperature and stuck out my tongue in the mirror. Nothing but a very minor hangover from last nights Guinness. I can’t blame it on booze.

Since it is in the garage I know it actually looks much better in person than in photo, but today was the first day that I actually looked at the G80 in print with… enjoyment and not disgust!

It happened, the flippening.
I’ll never know if I was just beaten into submission by the constant barrage of G80 photos, or if BMW designers are the avant-garde of automotive manufacturing and are so hip that it took me 3 years to come around to their genius.

But, I now think the G80 actually looks better than the F80.

I realize that a great number of you will have me shot for saying this and I’m sorry I let you down. I couldn’t hang on, alone, out in the cold.

“One of us.”

G8X is for contemporary, forward thinkers. It's the 'steve jobs' of car buyers. People who saw iRobot in theaters and said 'wow, I want that'

You are not alone my friend

Beever Teef is officially in vogue.

People love the twin kidney sophistication, but it's time to embrace the future.

Well, each to his own. I still can't get on board with that. Ordered a G87 M2, which at least doesn't have the gaping schnoz and in my eyes looks more aggressive. BMW design has done some questionable things lately.

Glad you came in from the cold! I had similar thoughts but snapped around to love the look about a year ago. Love my car, I’ve had it for about a month now.

I’m in the minority. I loved the G8X as soon as I saw photos of it. I had an F82 M4, then an M3CS. I knew I had to have the G82. Long story short, I got rid of the CS for an X3M40. Cause life was getting in the way. I knew I’d have one eventually. I’m going to take delivery of mine in a few weeks. It’s my dream car, individual Atlantis metallic with ivory buckets, 6MT. Yours looks like Atlantis too?

And by the way, I’ve pre-ordered and had the very first of the last 3 generations starting with my E46 M3 coupe. So, this is not taken lightly. Increase in size is another negative IMO.

Bullshit. You post here too much for somebody that truly dislikes it. I think you’ve got a secret crush. Come clean man and quit pulling her pigtails

M2 vs M4

Okay, as I said I've had the very first of the last 3 and want to like this one. Those 8k posts I have are not gratuitous - I am a true bimmerhead, starting with my new '73 Inka Orange 2002 right out of college. The pandemic meant I had less than 40k on my F82 when the G82 launched. It's gotten to M5 size and that nose - guess it's an acquired taste. I like the options available on the M4 that are not on the M2 (full Merino leather, forged wheels, colors, etc.). But, we're talking comparable performance (not talking Competition here because I want a manual) in a smaller package and $17k less as I'd spec it. To me the M4 looks sleek and fast, but the M2 looks like it wants to rumble.

We'll see when I actually get to see/touch the M2 and read the reviews which should come out next week (car launches on 4/8). I'm #4 on my dealer's preorder list (placed 6/22). Never say never - we'll see. I'm going to be 75 in a couple months and this could be my last new real performance car, and I want to get it right.

My first one:

Yea!
We went for the same color combo.
Atlantis and Ivory!
I love it.

Didn’t get the cf buckets though, but I like the seats a lot.

Mine isn’t going to be a daily so I went for the most impractical combo haha. I ordered mine on May 20, 2022 and it landed at the dealer on January 30, 2023. I’ll send air delivery in a few weeks, we’ve had a long March winter-wise.

I was in the same boat. Hated the new design and then all of a sudden one day the flippening happened. Now I prefer the new design and had to have one!

Love the interior/exterior color combo.
