CSL seat

picking up my wife x3 from service...

There was a CSL unlocked.

OMG I will not survive in that seat... no back support and once in I can not get out.

It’s the most comfortable race bucket seat I’ve experienced. Not sure what you were expecting it to be.

The CSL fixed buckets are super comfortable, more so than the last generation of M sport seats. I drove around in them for a few hours on Saturday and they fit like a glove. Some of the best seats ever.

Sitting in them for a few minutes in the dealership, without an adjustment or driving time is a poor way to form an opinion.

Completely agree. I drove home 500 miles in one day with just three short stops. Got out feeling refreshed. Getting in head-first seems to work best. Need to spend more than just a few minutes in them. Really glad I have them in this car.

Still figuring out how to get out of the fixed buckets without eventually ruining the top of the left bolster.

Feels quite special once you’re in. Happy to have them over the power seats.

Try this:
Place your left hand on the bottom door seal (where it curves) and grab the left hand of the steering wheel with your right hand (back of hand facing outward).
You can lift yourself up with your left hand as you get out and your right hand guides you out as you put your left foot out and down and tilt your body. Not too much pressure on the steering wheel as your left hand carries your weight.
Works like a charm in the fixed buckets.
Still trying a few different ways getting in…

Seat is really comfortable once you are in. I have not put in the miles yet so I will review in the near future.

A lot of people who don’t race, I’d guess over 90%… have never sat in a race bucket seat.

They have no idea what to expect, frankly.
Since it is on a consumer car, not a race car, it’s no surprise they are caught off guard.

They expect it to be BMW luxurious.
Csl or no…

I guess it was the nut holder that got me. In my track cars I have installed recaro, sparco , and (LOL) and even momo bucket seats. all felt better than the CSL. Even recently been test driving porsche with LWB seats. are better.

My m3 went into service yesturday. wifey drove and I told her that I want to trade my g80 for the CSL. she sat in. and can not get out.
