Ehhh, it's not much faster but it definitely drives very heavy, you van feel the weight of the car while driving it. Plus I'm modding the M4 and don't want to mod the M8.

OP you know Ive had or have both cars two times over.
I had a 21 M3 Comp and now a 22 M3 X. I had a 20 M8 GC Comp and now a 23 M8 Comp Coupe. Quick thoughts as an owner: The M3 is more nimble, steers slightly better, and is 2 inches shorter than the M8 Coupe. The damper/spring and chassis relationship is better on the SAME roads I drive and push the cars daily. The G80 endures the undulations with better absorption and less compression and rebound. The S58 begs to be ripped while the venerable S63tu, which is long in the tooth, wants to be pushed but still creates immense power. The M8 Coupe does drive better than the GC which is almost 10 inches longer than coupe and 12 inches longer than the G80X. The driving dynamics are improved and the exhaust note, to me, is strong due to the shorter length. The M3 is the drivers car of the two while the M8 is Luxo GT car which is indeed faster and sounds better too. The interior gaps have been closed with the G80 having a rather nicer interior than iterations of the past. I have the luxury of really pushing the G80X with its aftermarket exhaust and then swapping it out for the M8. Scalpel vs Hammer analogy here IMHO with both cars suiting different needs. I am more a driver and an agent of engine raping so the M3 is just a bit more of my choice if I only could have one but I do love the M8 almost equally. The V8 sounds much better and its expressway speeds are incredible stock vs stock. So its a crap shoot based on what you are as a driver or a cruiser or whatever....

I think you made a great choice. And as your elder, by 7 months, I’m obviously correct.
My sales rep tried to sell me on the M8 when ordering my M4Comp and wanted me to take one home to test out. I just couldn’t get past the 4,300 to 4,500lb weight. I’ve never owned any car over 3,100lbs. I understand the HP and brakes help the car feel fast. But that weight, and front weight bias at that, puts the car outside of me ever wanting it. I’m hoping this car works out for the weekend getaway car. Those who always recommend a 911 don’t golf. You can’t take more than a couple small bags in a 911 for the weekend. |

Funny you say that. My F80 and F86 both had full leather and my current G82 has extended. I find myself missing the upgrade even though I thought I wouldn’t.

Don’t you think you’d get a 911s? I know it’s not a GT car, but just the residual alone is going to be so worth it. Aren’t these cars closer to $200k? Admittedly I haven’t priced them out, but I feel it’s too much. |

I will never go from M8 to M4.
In the end, is a 140k car to a 70k car. I will prefer to go to a 911 or something else instead do this. Unless you need the money. |
