Will do but next time I will see the car it will have the matte ppf applied. Let’s see how that will turn out.

Received some pictures of the PPF installation, glossy on carbon parts, piano black parts, headlights and taillights.

They already install a small piece of matte ppf to show the final look I’m afraid to loose the special blue effect from carbon black but I was told it look good.

What do you guys think?

Someone had a carbon black car here with full body matte PPF. It looked good but you will definitely loose the deep shiny black to blue metallic transitions that pop with matte PPF. It’ll just basically look like a navy blue/black.

My first BMW was Carbon Black. My current X5 is also that color. Carbon Black looks the best naked. Even a ceramic coat on top causes an opaque brown hue at certain steep angles of viewing on the paint. Gloss PPF causes more gloss and black to blue “pop” translations you see at an angle become muted. But you definitely need it at least in the front. Matte PPF is going in a different direction, and only you will know that there is a Carbon Black car underneath vs. some random dark blue color. I wouldn’t do matte. What I’m describing is easily apparent in your pictures of the rear quarter panel vs the fuel door.

Agreed with ^

I’m subscribed as I have a CB 5 Series and I was always curious to see what a matte film would look like over it.

To any haters, CB is a spectacular color in the sun and fades to near black in overcast weather. As with all dark colors it’s hard to keep clean but looks great when it is.

Congrats. My '03 M5 was CB with Caramel interior. It's a stunning color. I do agree you will lose a lot of it's unique nature with a matte wrap.

I wouldn’t wrap such a dynamic color like CB in matte…

True. I had order the PPF before the car arrived and see it in person. Well good thing is that when I get tired I can always go back to normal.

I agree with this. Although it could end up looking great, I would worry that the matte film will just make the car looked vinyl wrapped instead of the clear which would be difficult to notice. It’s a risk and I do applaud your guts to see how it looks. You never know until you try it. I myself am more risk adverse.

This. Just leave the gas door matte and call it a day.

Shiney gooood.*

*(cue, “It’s your car, you spent a lot of money, who cares what people think, it only matters if YOU like it.” But, you did ask.)

However, matte CB would probably put you into a very small and select club on the forum. Yeah, changed my mind . Go for it. Make the front page.

You might be onto something! It’s nearly impossible to appreciate under indoor lighting, but you might have a very nice result. Ask if they can roll it out into the sun and pick up some reflections, that’s when you’ll really be able to tell.

CB is a subtle but striking color compared to black. You might end up with a really cool look.

I’m really curious how this will look, I’m getting vibes of the matte blue from the red bull f1 car.

Update. Got a few more photos from the dealer. Happy to see that I didn’t loose the dynamic blue color from the carbon black.

Cb is one of the best colors ever in existence. Its just brilliant. To me its way more dark blue than black. But on dark or gloomy days its black. Love it

I was scrolling through this thread thinking you were killing the unique awesomeness of carbon black. Then I saw that last set of pictures.

It’s a bit of a chamaeleon; it can look black in low light and then blue with a hint of “purple” in other types of light.

Love the spectrum of colors in some of these Individual paints. It’s one of the things BMW does best if you ask me.
