An update from me that might be relevant for some of you. I switched my cell phone carrier from AT&T corporate (who do not support eSIM for BMW) to AT&T Consumer, who do, finished the install of my WiFi hotspot, and have had no issues since. I don't know how many of you were in my situation - paid for WiFi Hotspot, started to install it, then stymied by lack of Telco support - but for those that are apparently getting the WiFi hotspot fixed also resolves the CarPlay issue, which makes sense since CarPlay uses both WiFi and BY

I’m still having the issue with Waze/GPS and CarPlay. Does this update really fix this issue? I’ve been hesitant to update because I didn’t want to deal with recoding.

Try turning on the car’s nav and then look at CarPlay. Is it right now? That fixed mine. I left the car nav off for so long that the GPS went out of sync. Starting up the car’s nav system re-synced and fixed my position. When we connect to CarPlay the phone switches to using the car’s GPS locator.
