S58 turbo upgrade

Hey so im toying with the idea of doing the turbos on my buddys s58

im looking on Newtis and i cant find any specs for turbo replacement yet. unless im not searching in the right area.

anyone done this job yet can give me a rundown. are you dropping subframe for this?

i thought b58 might lead me in the right direction but i realize they went back to the 2 turbo set up on s58.

just trying to see if i can garage job this or if i should put her on a lift.

Hey buddy,

without a doubt the go-to solution would have to be Stage 2+'s from Pure Turbos.

Pure Turbos are renowned the world over for their exceptional reliability and outstanding performance.

I'm the biggest importer of Pure Turbos in Australia and I can help you source a set of S58 turbos, but you can always email Jimmy@pureturbos.com directly and tell him Justin@JDTuning hooked you up, lol.

Cheers,

Justin.

Literally not at all what he was asking, sales will be sales I guess.

Realistically it’s going to be somewhat similar to S55, can imagine a lift will make things a lot easier.

I appreciate it but we already have the turbos I'm looking for the install procedure.

See you get it. Anyway I'm sure I can figure it out I like to just walk myself through the procedure before actually attempting it

Why upgrading so soon if I may ask? Platform is yet to take of and stock turbos appear outperform S55 with upgraded turbos already. Stock turbos should handle up to 700-750wheel

No need to drop the sub, but you need space from the top and bottom, we did it on our G80. you gonna run to inlet problem, i have BMS intake made for PS2+ if you like.

Honestly that was his tuners argument. he said lets max out the stock turbo first! could have probably set some records. idk i guess my buddy caught a decent deal with no core charge so he ran with it. went on a spending spree. so now we have pure stag2+,pfs port injection kit and a
reflex controller.

i paid for bmwtis for a day downloaded every guide under the sun for the car and honestly turbos dont seem too crazy difficult so im just hyped to do the work.

Great attitude, seriously. You come here as info’s really difficult to find, work it out after spending your own time, then offer to make other peoples life easier with info you attained.

World needs more people like you.

Haha welll I just hope someone helps me when I need it, too much gate keeping and with social media no one makes build threads like they used to. I literally bought air for a day and downloaded everything remotely related to turbos or intake manifold removal and pin outs for wiring reflex and installing port injection

yea i did the whole thing in a home garage with 2 jacks surprisingly straight forward the only thing that was annoying was the pcv attachment to the front inlet.

From my research, the S55 upgraded turbo typically has a 56mm compressor and 47mm turbine wheel. Stock S55 have 51mm compressor and 43mm turbine wheel. The S58 turbos have the S55 upgraded wheel sizes from factory hence why it does 7xx whp with stock turbos. Upgraded S58 are showing up with 58/54 or greater wheel size combo.

Luckily the LM900+ turbos come with the inlets that are like stock.

That little metal diaphragm just drops in like stock then you bolt up the rest as per normal

Ah that’s a way better design the pures use a silicon inlet so nothing to hold it

I wonder if leaving it out would be an issue.

LM switched to 3D printing their inlets out of Aluminum.
