Out of State Purchase

I am buying a car from out of state dealer. Can i have the car delivered to South Carolina without doing the performance center experience? Just have the car shipped there instead of the dealer and then shipped to me. It will cost less to ship from South Carolina than the dealer and I can't do the experience or I am getting divorced haha. Thanks in advance.

What state are you buying from? Highly unlikely the Performance Center will PDI a car for a customer that isn't doing PCD

Best advice I can give you is to call 1-888-345-4269 and be upfront about what you're trying to do. You'll first get connected to someone who can accept reservations or answer simple questions but if you ask, you can be transferred to someone at the PC who can answer what they can and can't do. I called them when I had questions about my delivery.

They do have customers who have their cars shipped from the PC but ultimately they're only going to release the car to you personally, even if you somehow manage to get out of the class. It's simply too much of a liability to release it to anyone else and I couldn't imagine they'd want to get involved in a triangle of finger pointing if the car was somehow damaged.

Why not schedule it for PCD get there and say you can't stay due to an emergency and go from there?

They won't release the car to JimBob's transport company, even if that's what you want. He'd still have to fly/drive out there to release the car to the transport company. There's going to be a trip required with or without the class.

I dont think you can assign someone (transport company) to take delivery from PCD on your behalf. The owner has to be there in person.

It borders as underhanded, but here’s how you could finesse it. Request PCD via the dealer selling you the car. Once it’s shipped to and unloaded from the Charleston port, cancel PCD and have the dealer arrange shipment to you. As long as the dealer arranges the transporter, the PC honors a 3-day window for pickup. If you arrange transport yourself, the PC requires the car be picked up that day only.
