Tire Lottery: What did you get?

So I have been kind of watching what people have been getting when it comes to the tire lottery and it seems from what I have seen is that the winners of the lotto (those who Michelin's) more often than not have the 826M wheels.

Starting a poll to determine if this is true.

What style wheel and brand tire did you get?

Maybe I personally couldn't while on the road but I bet there are enough other people out there that could. What matters more to me personally is which one wears better.

The pz4 is a good tire, if you look at tire test data (granted not for star spec), they are very close to and in some cases beat the ps4. I have no doubt that the vast majority of people who talk about how they suck would have no clue what is what in a blind test.

The Pirelli's don't work in the rain. I don't care what anyone says either. You hydroplane everywhere and can't go faster than 50 mph.

I like the pirellis. They seem more compliant than the Michelin and very grippy.

I wish I would have looked to see what the car I drove for my PCD had because it was pouring that day. They didn't need to turn the sprinklers on for the skid pad and we were sliding all over for the autocross portion. I haven't had any problems with the rain with my car, but I haven't really pushed it too hard in the rain.

Not sure why I assumed it would’ve been 50/50, seems pretty heavily skewed to Pirellis so far, surprising

Has anyone else with the Michelin’s noticed a smell after driving the car and then when stopping it and getting out? Just picked mine up recently and noticed this burning rubbery / chemically smell that I think is the tire (hopefully not from the engine))? At first I thought it was the engine but it seemed to be coming from the tires when sniffing around.

Did not recall smelling this when I had my Pirelli’s so wondering if it’s the tire or something else.

My dealer almost screwed up my wheel choice. I wanted 826M in black and after the build was done I would always check the status. One day I looked at the spec real quick and saw it said 826M bi color. I was like whoa no this is wrong! Called my SA and had him change it ASAP. Which was a good thing because a week later the car went into production. Had I not catch that I would have ended up with a wheel color I didn’t really want.

As far as tires, I got lucky. It was one of the first things I checked when I first saw my car lol.

Best choice for me, was 826M in bicolor. Do I wish I had gotten the Michelins, yes, but these are ok.

I won the Michelin lottery with my bi-color 826m’s. Really doubt it has anything to do with wheel choice though.

I agree.

The OP said "it seems from what I have seen is that the winners of the lotto (those who Michelin's) more often than not have the 826M wheels."

This seems like an example of a common issue that people have regarding data, and in this case, anecdotal data.

I think the OP believed that if you got the 826M wheels, you were more likely to get the Michelin tires, since he saw a lot of people with 826M with them.

This poll shows the 826M wheels are the most popular. So, you'll see more people with Michelin tires with 826M because more people have 826M.

Correlation vs causation.

That's the entire reason why I made a poll, to get actual numbers of what people selected for wheels to then compare to what brand tire they got.

So far the poll has been showing that a lot more people have picked the 826M over the 825M and also that more people have gotten Pirellis than the Michelins.

When i picked up my car and sat with some dude from the dealer (not my SA) that went over the whole car for me, although i had to speed it up because i wanted to get home before it got dark, i commented on how we all call the tires a tire lottery on the forum lol.

He laughed and said the factory doesn't choose which car gets what tires. He said if we call it a tire lottery, that's really what it is because when your car is next to be fitted with wheels and tires, someone who is assigned in that dept at the factory will literally grab whatever set is NEXT to be put on the wheels for your car.

So they don't go and look for pirelli's or michelins. They literally have a stack of front size tires, then a stack of rear size tires and the installer just grabs a matching set and that's that.

So yes i guess some of us did hit the lottery in that sense lol

I have no issues with the PZ4s other than the fact that they wear very poorly in the rear. Mine are almost at bars with just under 6k miles. People commenting on poor performance in the wet are probably just low on tread.

I could just replace the rears with another set of pirellis but f it I'm treating myself to the P4S star specs.

I have 826M bi-colour wheels, week 40 build, and got the Michelin tyres.

One of my friends was week a 36 build, also 826M bi-colour alloys, but he got Pirelli's.
