Here's the update. The shipping blocks were one of a few problems I have spent time on rectifying with the dealer. There was an issue with the incorrect Money Factor as well as an error on the maintenance plan and ceramic coating for the car. I did not deal with my SA who did a poor job from day one. The person who I did deal with was very courteous and did he best to make things right. He treated me fairly and took ownership for my experience as less than acceptable. He was horrified at the shipping blocks and stated that "heads would roll" in addition to additional training and QA checks to ensure this never happens again. I'm hoping heads will not roll but that is out of my hands. I can report that the car is freaking fantastic now that it is drivable and it is exceeding my expectations. I appreciate all the feedback and am happy to belong to such a supportive community.

Glad it was resolved. Which dealership was it? PM me if you don't want to say here. I am buying from an LA area dealership too.

Did you ever get an answer on this. I have the same.

It absolutely blows my mind that a BMW dealership would not ensure the shipping blocks were removed from the vehicle prior to the customer taking delivery.

Yet another thing to add to the list of things to check when I finally take delivery of my new M3....

This is unacceptable and I would demand a replacement of all 4 shocks. You can't be sure if there isnt any damage and the shock starts leaking in a while.

My SA took me to look at my car while it was being serviced for pre delivery. It was on the lift and first thing I asked was if the blocks were removed. They were and all was and is good with the car. Loving it so far compared to my F82. F82 was more raw but since I use the car for my daily commute to work it is perfect.

This seems to be a dealer thing across the brands - I bought a Focus RS for my wife and went to watch it get delivered at the dealer. I pointed out the blocks to my sales rep and got the 'we will take care of all that etc etc' speech...

Went to pick the car up a few days later with my excited wife and surprise surprise they blocks were still in....caused some embarrassment by sending it back to the workshop to get them removed...

Doesn't shipping blocks prevent the spring from moving whatsoever? So the shocks would not be compressed or able to move at all and it would be like driving with rods instead of springs right?

Right, but the blocks are pushing against the shock itself, so the complete weight of the vehicle is not on the spring, but somewhere, where it definitely not belongs.

Had this happen on the F31 330i. No harm done, they cracked and fell out from some speed bumps so I just sent a pic to the dealer to make them feel the shame.

Thank you

Thank you to everyone involved on this thread. Took delivery yesterday and the ride just did not feel right. It still happens. You all saved my suspension.

Another transport block M3 delivery checking in. Thank you OP and everyone for this thread. I took her home last night and I thought the rear sat a little high and I could not stop thinking about it.
If us forum users make up a low percentage of owners, I wonder how many G8X'ers are driving around on these things.

Dealers are getting few brand new vehicles to their inventory these days and this is still an issue! Hope these dealers do their PDI properly.

The tire gap looks close to normal too right? When I questioned my dealer on delivery day as to whether my shipping blocks had been removed, he said of course because otherwise my tire gap would look like that of an X5. Not seeing that here at all.

Anyone have any answers on this? I see the below on my front and back respectively. Don't see any blue blocks but not sure if the white one is also a shipping block? Assuming the brown ones are normal parts of the suspension.

First photo is the rear and second is the front.

Here are some better pictures. Shipping blocks are removable. If there is no split in the collar, it's not a shipping block. Just based on looking at yours, it looks like they've been removed. Your white plastic collar, doesn't appear to be removable.
