When do you put on your winter tires ?

Hey G80 owners

So I'm on the east coast and weather is starting to drop fast

I have nitrogen in my tires and as of yesterday tire pressure is starting to change do to the cold weather

So my question is when do you start put on your winter setup give or take ?

Thanks in advance

Yesterday. Swapped them out mid-afternoon, when it was 45 and sunny. Went down into the 20s here overnight. The tire manufacturers seem to say, officially, that if subjected to sub-freezing temps, the tires need to warm up in ambient temps greater than 45 for at least 24 hours, before the car can roll. Not worth chancing cracking brand new tires with 100 miles on them (even if they ARE P zeros )

I'm in lower NY. Usually early November. Definitely before thanksgiving. Nights here have gotten into the 20s and summer tires feel like skates on cold mornings. Not worth the risk at least for me.

I'm in NY too. Just did it like a week ago. It's definitely cold enough now when it's around low 40's especially if driving early or at night

General advice is when daytime high temperature fall to mid-40s Fahrenheit, if you're running high-performance summer tires (as nearly all of us are). Secondary factor is probability of freezing precipitation.

So .. for me that means winter tires are mounted November through April. Around here I'm not alone; tire stores are overwhelmed for a couple weeks this month, then again in April/May, as everyone changes over from one season to the other.
