New Michelin-centric snow driving review

The PS AS4's did a LOT better than I was expecting them to do.

That is very impressive for the AS4. Good winter option for people that live in areas where they aren't going to be encountering much in the way of snow.

Thanks for sharing. Had the Michelin AS installed a few weeks ago and this is exactly what I've been saying about them just by looking at the tread pattern.

I am in MN and I just ordered a set that arrived today. These will serve my needs this winter for my M4 Xdrive.
Thanks for posting.

Outstanding review. Everyone debating which tires to run in moderate climates should watch this. I personally enjoy driving on snow-covered roads just for fun (and get frequent opportunities, whether I like it or not), so winter tires for me!

Very good review. The AS4 probably would have been sufficient for my needs on the 19/20 but it's probably a bit easier for me to swap on winter /summer wheels set ups, rather than mounting and Un-mounting tires on the same rims. Very viable option in most climates I would say

I wonder what the AS4 is like in summer. Is it a viable tire in summer or would you lose a lot. Although appreciate winter is the main concern. I wonder could you run them in summer without losing much. I'm not talking track days here

I've been running them for a few weeks and can't notice any difference (I don't track) but do notice they maintain grip under hard acceleration at temps of 30 which the summers struggled.

How do you find them from a comfort level compared to the OEM’s that it came on?

My car had pirellis. I only have 1,500 miles on my car and don't go to the track but these AS feel confident and comfortable. Don't feel like I gave up anything for my driving style. Can't comment on if they are louder as I did the xpipe mod and valves are open so can't hear anything else.

I also went from Pirelli's to the PS AS4's and I think they're a little quieter than the PZeros, but it hasn't been a drastic change. I got hit by an absolute TORRENT of rain yesterday and these things are just absolute rain champs. Thrilled with them so far.

Hoping to leave them on my stock wheels and just get new summer wheels with PS4S's next year.

Perfect for the PNW where we don't get snow every year.

Would you consider leaving them on year round?

I probably wouldn't. Summer tires, especially the PS4S, are just too good at higher temps (even just past 100 degrees). I just don't think AS rubber could match them at higher temps. And, while I'm beyond impressed with the PS AS4 at 45 degrees in the wet and in the dry so far, they do not feel quite as good as the PZero's on my car did when they had fewer miles on them early this summer.

I may end up running the AS4's longer than I might really want to this Spring, depending on wheel availability, so perhaps I'll get to see how they are in decent temps with some miles on them.

Checking again in the spring would be great. Hopefully I will be able to tell once I get my own car. I have been stuck at the port in Germany for 6 weeks.
