marina is pure blue with light blue flake.
Smb adds slight purple tint. Arguably more dynamic in the sun. Also SMB is a few shades darker, but both are super vibrant (like someone took Portimao and added 100x the pigment) and really pop. Both great colors. Tons of pics comparing them on other models/generations around the forums.

Also, ask your ca to see if any dealers have a marina bay car since other models currently offer it

Not a picture on a g80 but here is a direct comparison of my old F80 (SMB) and F90 (MBB). In my personal opinion SMB is a much better and unique color. Unfortunately in pictures they almost look identical

Facts! SMB for some odd reason does not like showing it's true colors on camera lol. I remember going to see it at a dealership and taking the photo and I'm realizing my iPhone12 Pro is just not doing it. SMB has a slight purplish tint when the Sun hits it but then becomes an Ultramarine in other cases at night has a hint of Tanzanite.

Paint corrected SMB in direct sunlight is a thing to behold, my favorite color ever.

San Marino blue is slightly darker, and definitely has more purple in it. Both colors are stunning in person, but SMB seems to shift colors more.
SMB is really hard to capture correctly in photos because it shifts so much. This thread does a good job of accurately capturing the color https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1884710 |

SMB is amazing in the sun or shade but TB when clean in the sun is jaw dropping good!

These pictures are amazing, thank you for posting.
I need additional input by comparing these to Interlagos, since that's the color on the 50 Jahre. I do remember the color from long ago and after seeing these pics here, can you even tell a difference in real life? |

Assuming you're on the mobile app, back out of this thread to the sub-forum. At the top of the screen you'll see two tabs "threads" and "stickies". Press the "stickies" tab.

been waiting for my MBB m4 to arrive for a while now ordered back in october and built in march. the "Roll call for BMW Individual orders" thread shows only 3 MBB cars tracking from bimmerpost as opposed to 6 SMB if that influences your decision.

I have to say, I now have a love/hate relationship with SMB. Ever since I saw it on the M6 back in what has to be like 06 (I think, whenever the M6 that SMB came standard on was first released), I wanted a SMB BMW.
I've now had my SMB M4 since Nov 2019. I love the color, it looks incredible in all lights, and sparkles with a somewhat hint of purple. That being said, I have two cons: (1) I'll preface by saying that I could have prevented this, but my current car is leased and didn't want to spend thousands on PPF (my incoming car will be owned and the first thing I'm doing is PPF, mostly based on my current experience). I was coming from a mineral grey M3 that I had for 4.5 years and never once did I see a swirl or scratch on the paint. After one car wash with SMB, swirls and scratches became conspicuously visible whenever sunlight in the car. It made me absolutely sick that 1 month in, after the first car wash, the paint looked the way it did. I had an $800 paint correction and it helped (looks much better now than in the attached photos), but the basic swirls are still there. (2) it seems like almost every car manufacturer is making an SMB-like blue... of course I can differentiate, but it irks me (just a bit) when the color is available on just about every other M car, and it's a popular color, but also that honda civics and hyundais and teslas are mimicking the color. So, I would 100% go SMB over MBB, but I would HIGHLY recommend PPF as the first thing that you do! Just my $0.02!

Many pictures of SMB in this thread, but in case you have not seen them, here are a few threads with MBB G80s
