This as been moving target for me and my sales rep for the past few weeks. Today i asked is this due to chip shortage he said no, that it is due to this being the biggest allocation for this year(implying, that I guess, that they are trying to get it “right” with the dealers).

Wow that's awesome to hear. I'm first on my list. Is everyone getting an AWD version, M3 or M4? I heard the allocations are very specific and not just set M cars.

I'm first on the list at my dealer, G80 base. My SA said they've been expecting allocations this week but have yet to receive them. Spoke to him at 2pm EST today and no news.

I spoke to one of my dealers which is one of the top ten dealers in the country. They moved me up on the list and I'm in the same spot with my more local dealer who has been promising allocation coming in soon similar to above. The one at ray catena the top ten dealer said don't listen to anyone - they don't know when they come in - no one does - they just come when they come. I don't want to but I believe him.

They are M specific for example M3 vs M4. But once you secure an allocation for either one you can select the drive train you want. RWD, AWD, Manual are all interchangeable.

Interesting...some like you are saying they've heard no allocations at all, while others are saying that they've heard that this will be the biggest release yet. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle?

I was told by my dealership that allocations would be released today. They were told this from their rep. I was also told I should get a production number assigned today or tomorrow (at the latest)

My dealer had been getting 1-2 allocations until July. August hits, nothing, now this delayed Sep and nothing. I moved up one spot tho….

Likely going to look at alternative or at least stop gap solutions.

My CA as well got allocations but no m3/m4. I called around and tow of my other local dealers seem to have 1. They are trying to verify if I can get a production number today.

So called my dealership today and they didnt get allocations, after they told me they would get 2-3. He said allocations are trickling in and they will have a chassis for me by Monday. He said they would get more allocations in in tomorrow or money.

Not sure if he's blowing smoke up my butt or what.

I think some of them are. One dealer today told me he has an allocation and when I asked him can he give me a production number today he proceeded to tell me he can give me one in two weeks. I told him no thank you. I do not want to be put on another waiting list.

Update from my sales person: told me that a very small allocation came in. Didnt cover me. His dealership believes (right, does not know) that they provide a few allocations due to all the dealer chirping on the status. Said BMW has stopped providing info(sounds bad). They are expecting a large allocation drop at some time. In the meantime he said he put my order in the “order bank” so whenever the allocation drops it will be ready. So looks like I’m still in limbo for allocation. The saga continues.
