Is the BMW badge on the trunk removable?

My PPF installer asked me to get a new set of badges from the dealership since he plans to remove the set currently on the car before applying PPF (to avoid cutting around the badges). Does anyone know if the BMW logo badge on the trunk is removable on the G82 M4? It seems it might be where the backup camera is.

Wondering if anyone has experience with this.

Why on earth do you need new ones? I took mine off in 3 minutes to install the painted ones from IND, I totally could use the removed ones again. In fact when this cars goes Bye bye they are going back on.

Yeah, he wants to put my old M4 badge on his new 430i.

Jk. I assume it's because it's a cleaner job to use the factory adhesive? Otherwise he'd have to apply something or use double sided tape or something. I've never PPF-ed a car before so I'm not sure what standard practice is. Anyone know?

This should not even be an issue with a good PPF installer. In fact, if he was any good at all, he should be printing the PPF kit and it comes with cut outs for places like the badges. Just my opinion.

I guess if someone is doing PPF stealth they would have to custom cut and therefore do more removing, right? Asking for a friend

So this is how so many people end up with crooked badges on their cars

Yeah it depends on the installer. Typically there's precut or bulk installers. Installers that custom cut often remove badges for an even better finish (no plastic ppf outline around the badges post install), but bulk installs are typically more expensive and quality of the job also varies more.

Two BMWs PPFed and badges were always removed. There are not cut out boundaries you can see but it is expensive.

Did you replace your badges/roundels with new ones or did you reuse? or did you just debage the car?

The installer ordered the badges ahead of time for the second car (front and back). It only cost like $100 something. And I got the old badges back.

I think they do this because they don’t want to deal with complaints like badges falling off with some after-market adhesive. And they may want to de-risk having to deal with badges getting scuffed while being removed.

Guys on M3 (G80) is easy to remove trunk badge ? (Because on M4 is pretty nasty job, I guess because integrated camera requires more adhesive)
