How bad are the factory Pirelli’s compared to Michelin’s
I lost the “tire lottery” and my 22 M3CX has the pirellis. Pretty bummed about that actually.
I hope the 60’, 0-60, 1/4 mi, autocross, track, etc wont be affected too much …

So far really haven’t noticed any issues with the pzero. I never had ps4s , only pilot sports on f80 and f82. You’ll forget about it just enjoy the car.

The only ones that "lost" the lottery are the professional track drivers who only bought their G8X's for that purpose...
So in reality no one here hahahahahah. Enjoy the PZeros as I am thus far.

Is this really an issue? I'm sure I'm also gonna get the P's but heck just enjoy them as they will probably only last 7-8k miles and then replace with the * specs from M.

It's a complete non issue. I doubt anyone on this forum would tell the difference in a blind test. BMW are not putting garbage on their new performance car
PZero's have come out ahead in some reviews. I think Michelin's are better known and have a better 'brand' so people assume they're much better by a large margin or something, when in reality there is very little between them one way or another |

P-zeros are junk and that's a hill I'm willing to die on. Lol.
I respect the data and really wish I could have an opinion that's consistent with those charts, but my butt dyno tells a different story. These tires have a soft side wall and are (I feel) less sticky than the PS4S overall. This gives me less confidence driving at speed since I feel the car rolls WAY more and almost understeers when, for example, taking a sweeping turn at 80+. They also feel sketchy at best in the rain. I feel it's way easier to begin hyrdoplaning with these on while driving normally. With the PS4S, I remember hitting 130+ in the pouring rain in my previous M4 and had zero issues/worries. One of those rainy days in Mexico... The predecessor, the PSS, was in my mind just as bad as the P-zeros in the rain. I ran both P-zeros and PS4S's in my previous M4, driving 10's of thousands of miles on each. My M3 came with P-zeros and I switched those out after 2k miles for Cup 2s. |

The newer PZ4 Pirellis made for the G8X cars is a very good tire. They do wear faster than the Mich.

Understeering when taking a sweeping turn at 80+? Depends how far the + is, but haven't felt that either and my P Zeros are pretty worn.

For reference, I'm at 7k miles with the P Zeros and my fronts are at 1 mm to the wear bar.

On top of that, these tires are GARBAGE in the rain. Replacing them with PS4S

Im at 1400 miles on the Pzeros and Im positively very impressed. I used to think Pirelli was junk from previous experience, these tires are a whole different ball game. During a recent canyon run here in SoCal, I was deliberately trying to make the car understeer by carrying extra speed into corners,NO Luck..These Pzero's stick like glue and I do like the feedback from the steering.I would not hesitate to buy them again at this point,Ive always ran Michelin ps4's on my M3's

I must say that I was really disappointed when I got my car and saw that it came with the Pirelli’s. However, in the last 6000 km they haven’t disappointed. The road noise is minimal, traction is amazing and they are pretty good in rain including heavy downpour! I’v had PS4S on my last M2C since the start (changed them at 2k km) but I don’t mind these pirelli’s. Maybe I’ll get the Star spec cup 2’s when I have to get them replaced but if I don’t go with the Cup’s, I’ll go with whichever’s available between the PS4S and the Pirelli’s.

I've been speculating that the whole Pirelli vs Michelin thing is bunk, and purely psychological. I doubt BMW would put tires on the car that are that different performance wise. It's good to see folks are happy with them.

I haven't driven on either tire yet so I can't comment there.. my biggest issue with the Pirellis are that they seem to run a tad chunkier and tend to rub with 15f/12r spacers while the PS4S do not.

Did some testing with DragTimes today. Pirellis dead hooked on launch, logging a 2.99 0-60. Definitely good with that !
