I understand you don't want stealth PPF, but if you're worried about rock chips and door dings you need clear PPF as ceramic coating will not do much if anything to protect against those.

This.

I'll do PPF + ceramic, in all likelihood. Minimally, PPF on front-facing impact areas + ceramic overall.

I had this exact combo on my F87 and it worked very well. That's what I would have done in my G80 had I not scored such a great deal on full PPF

My bad, I knew I had to do this but didn't add it to my post. I had my front hood and bumper done like that on my previous vehicles as well

I have the same thought process. I don't keep cars more than 3 years. Lease works our great for me.

Tanzanite is such an amazing color, I could probably never stealth wrap it, but DAMN!!! That looks amazing... one of the best BMW colors ever and I'm not biased at all...

Folks, I understand the PPF protects against the rock chips and etc. and the stealth looks awesome... but for $7000+, does this really worth the $$?? I want to do it but just hard to justify spending over $7k (cash) for it.

It's quite pricey. If you plan on keeping the car for quite a while, it may make sense.

For those of us that lease, I wouldn't be doing it.

I agree it is a lot of money and wouldn't do it at $7k. I should be able to get it done for much less than that as I have a connection. So in my case it won't be much more than what it costs to do front / impact area PPF + ceramic coat at a local shop.

I'm willing to pay $7k for full PPF that's done to a professional level. However, my local guy said their starting price is $10k. No way he's earning my business

Frozen paints look amazing, but wondering if stealth PPF can create the "frozen" look and protect the paint at the same time for less cost.
Cost me $6k in RI. Also quoted $5k but I wasn't as confident in their capabilities.
Is that frozen dark grey? If so, wondering how u feel about the appearance after wrap versus before.

The base color is BSM. Love the stealth wrap though. Would definitely do it again.

I hope this doesn't deter anyone. But I had my white model x stealth wrapped. After it was done there were a few parts that lifted. It really killed the look for me. I went back to the installer and he fixed most of the major issues. But there was still some areas that were lifting. When it lifted dirt would get trapped underneath. Most everyone didn't notice it because it was a little detail. But I could notice. It just really killed the look for me.

Maybe I went with the wrong installer, and this issue isn't as common? I'm in SoCal and paid $6,500. From what I heard, Xpel stealth is really thick and hard to stick on certain sharp contouring areas. So I don't think I'll do it again. I'm waiting for my M4 Portimao. I may do a clear front ppf/ceramic coating.

For those that have done the ppf, is this a common issue?

I had two cars done at once: nothing lifted on my stealth wrap, one edge lifted on the clear expel wrap. The installer said they watch for that initially and fix it at that time; then it shouldn't be an issue (as long as u don't pressure wash the edges.)

Is it worth the $ to apply ceramic coat on top of Xpel Stealth (or standard Xpel I guess)?

I will definitely ceramic coat the wheels & calipers but not sure doing the entire car on top of Xpel Stealth is needed?

My car will not see much rain, if any, and will stay clean for the most part. I will have a beater in my driveway

I'm a ceramic fan. Put it everywhere. I'd make myself hydrophobic if it were medically safe
