I didn't drive before I updated. I actually sat in my garage (idling) and it won't install. My first call in the morning will be into BMWFS

What finally worked for me was to delete my phone completely from the car and start from scratch - add BT, use the bar code to add Wifi etc. Once that was done I had a new setting "Connect Wifi" under the device settings, when you click it connects your phone to the car via the Wifi connection and you can finally upload the update.

Make sure that the box labeled "use internet" or something is unchecked. That's only for people that pay for hotspot data.

Car cannot be running to install. Must be parked and just "on" but no engine. Should change to something that says install update.

Thanks...I'll try it again. Not sure why this is such a difficult process. The install should just install automatically IMO without having to do this run-around

Agreed it's not very well explained although fairly seamless once you figure out the process.

You need to be Idle (Key on with no running engine) to install. It took 30 mn

Mine was still warm when I did my update. When I shut the car off when I got home the idrive screen changes to the one where it asks if you want to ventilate the car and on the top it said update ready to install and I pressed on it and was good to go. After you do update get ready to change most your settings back almost everything I had set went back to default. Like folding mirrors, M1 m2 buttons, and still figuring the rest out.

I'm gonna verify that there was no difference in sound other than burbles happening at 3k rather than 4K…bmw smh….just give us valve control like literally every other car brand does…eh hem Mercedes eh hem…

Thank you everyone for clarifying. I finally got the install to work. Noted for the future. I notice no difference in the sound.

My feedback : some more pops and crackles. Might be quieter in Comfort. No idea if there was any effect on ASD as I coded it back off right away.

My install went ok - no issues. However, I did have to reprogram M1 and M2 buttons and just realized this morning that my Apple Carplay doesn't connect and all contacts/settings for my phone were deleted. I am sure there is a way to correct, but a total pain. Anybody else have this issue?

Yes, my contacts were wiped also. My M1 and M2 settings were not impacted. I also had to reconnect my profile to the car.

And this was one of my first mods within my first month of ownership. I put my car on a lift, and me and my buddy spray painted my udder. As soon as I saw pix of the rear of the G8X, I knew that would be one of my first "mods".

How did you code off ASD? I tried through Bimmercode, but didn't hear a difference.

If it doesn't work, go back in climate control and recheck the box.

As said in the post after, after every update you need to reconfigure this

Can confirm as above, have to recheck the box for remote start. Went for a short drive and maybe slight more burble sounds in sport+ but nothing really significant. Also had to reconfigure in CarPlay to go back to the dark mode theme. Other than that I didn't notice anything else resetting to default.
