I still find it very unlogical the 4 series Gran Coupe that is being introduced now will not get the new dash (and it's brother i4 does get it), and the 3 series LCI would get it just a couple months after the G26 4 GC is being delivered. This is totally unlogical. Logical would have been that the 4 GC would have gotten the new iDrive 8 from the start same as the i4. If that had been the case i would believe that the G20 LCI would also get it next summer.

But there is no logic that you do give it to the G20 LCI next summer and do not give it to the G26 4 GC now. The only logical explanation would be that only a i3 electrical G20 version would get the new dash, in my opinion.
Those leaks are from a very well informed source and it isn't often that I've seen them be proven wrong, if at all. I've been on these forums for a long time and a good majority of the leaks here have been spot on time and time again, generation after generation of BMWs.

Well my logic was simple : it is introduced the same time as the i4 and shares the bodywork with it. So why use iDrive 8 on one and not the other. Why let the other one wait 2 years for it ? That was my logic.
I get your point. But I believe i4 is considered as a brand new architecture and not a sub model of existing 4 series.

Implementation sequence: i4 (brand new product line) -> 3 series (lead mainstream platform) -> 4 series (follow platform).

Just my 2 cents.

I think the iD8 is a worthy update to the somewhat old(?) iD7.
(I'm actually surprised that I'm in the minority who actually likes the curved display dash)

I don't think I've ever been disappointed in any BMW LCIs in the past.
Hopefully the LCI brings some refreshing design elements to this generation, as I'm planning on replacing my soon-to-arrive G82 with the last MY when the time comes.

Out of curiosity, do you lease or buy. Getting the current G80 now and then upgrading to the last MY for LCI updates sounds ideal. But kind of expensive if I buy.

I drive way too much and normally purchase new cars every 2-3 years.
I plan on keeping the miles relatively low for my soon-to-arrive G82 so that I don't get hit too much with depreciation.

Out of curiosity, has anyone actually sat down with a dealer to discuss these predictions/rumours/prospects? If a LCI (potentially for the G80 at least) is arriving as soon as next summer, it's kind of astonishing that concrete details of amendments are still under wraps or yet to be nailed down. Meanwhile, off topic, but related possibly to the anticipation of the LCI: here in the UK, the M340i has disappeared off the order list recently; whether that's a genuine discontinuation or a postponement until the LCI models go into production has yet to be confirmed.

I don't know how it works in the UK, but US dealers are often less well-informed than most enthusiasts. When a high-visibility new model is on the horizon (e.g. Z06), then dealers start taking orders well in advance, and details start trickling in. But LCI's are typically minor aesthetic updates that don't really warrant a lot of attention, and obviously dealers are more incentivized to try selling existing inventory rather than worrying about what's coming in 6/9/12 months.

I remember in the Spring of 2015, with the F30 340i on the horizon (replacing the 335i), I contacted multiple dealers about placing a deposit for the 2016 model, and while one or two of them knew about its arrival, others were clueless.

Yeah, I was in the business in the late 90s - early 00s and most people were in it because the money was good, and hardly knew anything about cars. Few of us were enthusiasts as well.

It's very typical for specifics about the LCI not to come out until just a couple of months before production officially begins. Dealerships at this point will likely be clueless about any LCI details unless they are enthusiasts and follow boards like these. I've known more about my cars and the upcoming changes and timing of changes for all the BMWs I've bought than the salesperson because of these forums.

In my experience the dealers are mostly clueless. And they don't care much either except for selling you a car ASAP.

Hi Guys

I am basically ready to submit my order for an M3 xdrive.
I had a discussion with my sales guy and he advised that my car possibly will go on production in June. He said if I want whatever the updates the g80 lci will bring is better to wait for a little while to place my order.
I have chosen an individual colour and once the order is placed it will go into the que system and cannot be postponed ,if I wanted to.

I just don't want to experience the same thing that happened when PRE LCI m5s WERE delivered and the same time the lci came out with updated headlights etc and all the people were annoyed .

Anyone know when approximately they will announce the production for the G80 LCI?

Right, and dealers will be able start placing orders for the '23MY around end of May/early June. BMW *may* choose to leak or advertise LCI updates before then, but certainly nothing guaranteed.

Of course, if you've got an Individual color or other special order in the works, then an order in March or April would likely mean a '23MY build as well, but, again, no guarantees.

Actually, one thing about the XM reveal that I found promising (amidst the cacophony about the styling) was the fact that it include hardware buttons for both HVAC and the 1-8 hot keys, seemingly combined with the iDrive 8 interface.

I was (am) concerned about the all-virtual interface (Teslafication) with the upcoming iX and i4, so I'm *really* hoping that these hard buttons make their way into the M3 LCI (and rest of the lineup) as well.

Doesn't this provide the LCI will have iDrive 8 with the two tablets on the dashboard?

I went to my dealer today and delivery for a new M3 order now is July/August 2022, and a lot of things are unclear as what some options are… there will be changes for sure as per 07/2022. Don't know what yet.

Is anyone else with a '21 or '22 G80 sweating that the LCI will include way better headlights/tails? Lol

Current front and rears are LEDs, so not really worried about it.

Yep, almost definitely confirms it, although I believe these spy shots are for the 3-series LCI, not necessarily for the G80... though I have no reason to doubt it'll apply there as well.

I wish these spy shots got a better look inside to verify whether there will also be redundant physical buttons for HVAC, 1-8 hotkeys, etc. -- like the XM concept featured -- though I suspect that for efficiencies and commonality the i4/4-series/3-series/M3/M4 will all share the same basic dash components.

I just chatted with my SA today about moving up my order from a '23 (I was first in line) to a '22. He think they'll be able to get an allocation in May/June, but no guarantees.

Update Actually here's a couple of interior spy shots as I requested. Everything is covered in black felt so it's hard to see, but it's pretty obvious the iDrive 8 mondo-screen is there.

That only confirms that the G20 will get it (and M mirrors), I still firmly believe the G80 will get iD8 when the G82/G83 does, not before.

I feel like they will change the tails. Current ones are pretty bland. Opportunity exists to improve on them.
