Sirius XM Radio Not Working

For whatever reason, I can't get my satellite radio to work. All the stations are greyed out. I've been on the phone with satellite radio of them resending signals for 20 minutes

Update: After 3 days of it not working, it decided to randomly start working. I decided to give Sirius a third call in trying to troubleshoot on my way to an appointment. After not being able to get it to work, he escalated it to his manager in which they were to give me a call after my appointment. When I got back in my car the satellite radio randomly started working. After a week it has continued to work.

Also I only got a 3 month free trial but was able to get 50% off for a year after the trial ends by saying I would not want the service.

Did it previously, and then stop? Or are you trying to activate it the first time?

Also, try turning off your car, lock it, then try again a few min later. Mine didn't activate but actually had and required a restart.

SRoss, I have the same issue with the radio... I took it back to the dealership yesterday to see if the CA could tell me what's wrong with the radio.. He wanted me to bring it in for service.. I decided to wait until I bring the car in for the initial service.

No it never worked, trying to activate it for the first time. Sirius should be activated today.

So mine ended up working in a similar fashion yours did. Randomly started working after being on the phone with Sirius for 2 or 3 days. Also only have the 3 month trial but able to get 50% off for the next year.

Damn my free 3 month trial of XM hasn't worked either.

I may call it in with sirius rather than the dealer. I'll update this thread.

The customer service person I spoke with at SXM at first tried to sell me a subscription from day 1, as if there were no trial. When I pressed him about it, he put me on hold for a few minutes, and then came back and magically there was a 3 month trial. Likely all because of the RAM retrofit process. Sounds like they basically are just getting a shipment of them at the ports and popping them into the cars without actually doing any of the formal registration process/VIN association that would normally occur had the module been put on in the factory.

I personally couldn't careless about satellite radio and never even really use my free subscriptions with the new cars, however, I think BMW needs to find a way to correct this and honor the fact that the cars are supposed to be coming with a 1yr subscription.

I'm having the same issue, leased a G26 M440i last month (it was stopped at the VPC due to RAM retrofit).

Sirius XM randomly stopped working and now I can only see channel 1. Tried rebooting iDrive and sending a refresh signal but no avail.

Is this something that the dealer can fix or would it be sirius XM?

Didn't know the trials these days were only 3 months. Anyone think I can argue for 1 year trial?

What's your window sticker say? Mine says 1 year trial. If yours does too, then yes, you can argue for 1 year and should be able to get it.

Confirmed it does say 1 year trial; going to bat for this!!

By the way to anyone who's curious -- I followed the exact steps in this TSB and was able to get Sirius XM working again.

How long ago did you take delivery of the car?

I had the RAM stop sale on my car and took delivery the week of Thanksgiving. I didn't get the welcome to your 1 year trial email until the end of December. I think with the stop sales it's taking longer for the unit to actually get registered and updated for the 1yr trial subscription.

No it never worked, trying to activate it for the first time. Sirius should be activated today.

Try holding the iDrive power button down until the restart cycle is complete.

Give it some time, I bet the 1 year trial will get added over the next several weeks.

I wrote bmwfs and they said due to the ram stop it will take additional time for the 1yr to be added. I have the 3 month for the time being.

I wanted to follow back up and update this post. I logged into my SiriusXM account and it shows they added a 1yr subscription as of 3/15. So i will actually get about 13 months instead of 12.
