M3 Delivery Gone Wrong!

My February M3 order made it to the dealer. I drove a couple hours to pick it up only to find out it had been damaged by transport company. Looks like someone took sandpaper to the bumper, hood, and both fenders. Dent in the hood is the exclamation mark.

My options at this point are to unwind the deal or wait on repairs. Unwinding the deal puts me out of a 24 based on allocations. Not a fan of the 25 LCI headlight change, and 25s are too far out. Drawback to waiting for repair is that damaged panels/hood/etc will need to be repainted. Super skeptical about paint jobs (respray). Attached photos do not do justice to the way the car looks.

I realize it's not the dealerships' fault, and to be fair they just as made. The had another vehicle delivered along with mine that had worse damage.

You cannot understand my level of frustration, I want to be violent!

It’s hard to see the scratch on these photos. Does the damage go through clearcoat? If so I’d ask huge discount for ordering a new one. LCI is still better than this one with repainted front imo.

Obvious is the Dealer faults the car had cosmetic damaged issues, do not accept the vehicle dealer had their own damage insurance to cover should it occurred during the transport. It's odd that since BMW transport the car in a close enclosure truck unless the driver causes the damaged. Let the dealer take care of all repairs.

Actaully not the dealers fault, carrier damaged buting transport. BMW utilizes a broker for transport and that broker subcontracts to carriers.

Dealer problem or not - order a new one (LCI) if you can negotiate then paying the difference between the two

I wouldnt want a brand new car that’s had an extensive resprayed as unless they do the whole car, I doubt it will ever look perfect under all lighting conditions and angles

I just wondering why the dealer didn't called you up and told you about the damages so you didn't have to drive several hours just to be disappointed. I would order a new car although the LCI headlights look worse.

I’d be more worried about the crease/dent in that 4th pic if I were you. They should have had a better transport carrier. If you walk away, don’t forget to post the VIN and dealer where this is at, so someone else don’t get swindled into paying top dollar for a repainted car that probably won’t be documented by them.

I am 100% on the refusal and ordering a 2025. IF you can wait, this is your best option.

This damage does not make sense to me. Having special ordered many high end vehicles, they are always wrapped from port to dealer. Dealer does the delivery prep. That paint looked prepped. Does it have port installed options? How many miles are on it?

From Beemerheaven to US port to dealer is usually 14 miles or less.

Too many unknowns. If it was a lesser vehicle price point, sure, buff it out. If you accept the vehicle, this will always be a point of contention even if its only in your head.

But hey...thats me. If you don't give a shit and time is a real problem, go for it. Maybe see if the dealer can add in some "pain and suffering" on the back end of deal

I'd unquestionably walk away.
Even if the entire car got resprayed, I'd always have this feeling that something was off/wrong/not complete and it would ruin the experience for me.

Maybe check inventory and see if you can find a model you can get now (or one that is in transit). Otherwise, order + wait. Use a broker if you want to get an allocation ASAP.

Really sorry to see this. There's no excuse for such treatment. And yeah, why didn't the dealer call you before you drove so far?

You can get another one inside 3 months. Allocations are everywhere. I'm sure you will be able to get a discount on the new order also.

I would never take delivery of this vehicle. The color is awesome but, like Dravit, I think it will be impossible to respray properly. This is on the dealer, walk away. I'm starting to like the LCI headlights after seeing them on other BMWs. Turn this into a discount for a '25...

The dent comes out easy, the scratches on the paint are easily buffed out from the picture. I would request a csl grill or oem grill as replacement and move on with purchase.

This is one of those situations where YOUR ORDER isn’t really YOUR order. This car is some bullshit dealer swap or sourcing because they found your spec somewhere and they could get it for cheaper to make more money. The car wasn’t wrapped up when it showed up. If they say it was, then request video from their CCTV cameras on the lot that shows the delivery truck coming in and dropping it off. I’ll be you any amount of money they’re lying their ass off to you about this. This is typical bullshit dealer crap and tactics. This isn’t what you ordered, this is most likely what was sourced. If you had ordered it, you’d have gotten emails from BMW with the exact VIN, etc., but that doesn’t explain why it got scratched up since it has covers all over it when it shows up to the dealer and they have to take all that off as part of PDI.

Sorry to see that... I would be so mad too.
Ask the dealer to do a dealer trade with the same or similar build options.

Walk away !!! If you really want an MY24, have the dealer look around for open allocations and get one swapped with another dealer. At worse, you can get in touch with a broker on this forum and get a 24 allocation for like $500-1000 if you really hate the LCI lights (I dont blame you). Either option is much better than driving with a "brand new" car that was painted and repurposed. I know this dealer will eventually turn this around and sell it as a brand new car, but sometimes ignorance is bliss. You knowing what had happened will always be in the back of your mind and you will be constantly checking for issues. Not worth the hassle and peace of mind !!!

I would run away from your dealer for the simple fact that they didn't tell you about the damage and said, Hey, your car is here! Come pick it up! I think that is shitty as hell.

Yea this situation is sus. Scrapes and dents should've been caught by the dealer when the car was dropped off or at least at PDI. Either way, they should've given you a heads-up and proposed a remedy before you drove two hours only to discover this yourself.

I might work this from two angles. First, you should try talking to Day Laborer to see if you can still source a '24 allocation. Second, and at the same time, you should demand the dealer repair/repaint the defects at no cost to you plus some compensation for the fact this even happened. Since the dealer will have to pay out of pocket for this, I share your skepticism that they will do a good, thorough job but I don't see a big drawback in at least exploring this option to see what they will do to make it right.
