That’s what I have. Plus a brake pedal lock and a wheel lock.

If the car still gets stolen, then kudos for putting in the work lol. I have full coverage anyway.

I’m really amazed how stupid these scumbags are. Get the keys reprogrammed and see if BMW NA can get the dealer to put an alert not to copy the keys unless they call you or request some kind of identification measures
You can also disconnect the battery so they wouldn’t be able to start the car.

Or, you can remove all 4 wheels every night you park it...

Seriously, sounds like someone at BMW Service/Dealer is on this and should be busted.
I also hope BMW NA alters the procedure for obtaining extra keys for more security

They’re 100% working with someone in the dealership, is your dealer trying to identify that person?

No question about it. Wait till they cross reference keys issued in the past two years and see how many of those were reported stolen. You guys might catch me on the news. I'm taking this to the media.

Yes, if the dealer isn’t interested in getting to the bottom of it, blow it up.

Sure why not
Disconnecting the battery saved my ex-wife’s car (not a BMW) when it was stored . It was not done purposely but when we came back from vacation we found the car unlocked professionally and the ignition was busted but they couldn’t start the car. It looks like op has another car and the car is stored if you read through the thread.
This is not random. A staff saw the car at the dealer where he services it and proceeded with giving the scumbags the address. They knew the vin# and the tag before going to his home but it seems that they needed a photo of the license plate. The investigation needs to start at his dealer.

Wtf happened to your original thread? That’s bizarre.

This is crazy though. I hope BMW is in contact with and assisting the police.

Absolutely insane that they have a man on the inside helping facilitate this kind of BS. So sorry to hear you're still dealing with this OP. At least you're not letting up on the fight and continuing to aggressively pursue all legal and judicial options available. Just hearing that this is still ongoing makes my blood boil. Good luck and please keep us posted. It's truly unbelievable how scummy people can be.

Good for you for following your instinct. I would try to figure out who from BMW dealt with that communication/transaction. If they’re really in on it, all I can say is what a POS.

Please keep us up to date and good luck with the hunt!

Did you have the car reprogramed to a new key set? BMWUSA should be up for that as a good will item vs very shitty publicity if the thing blows up on the TV news.

Sounds like you are referring to valet mode. In antitheft mode the gas pedal will not function at all with the Dahler. Are you referring to, they could idle off?

Yeah, but without battery you can't arm the alarm system and lock the doors. So that's stupid.

Agreed. The dealer should do this for him as a courtesy. Espeically since they sold the perp a key. Even if he had paperwork that looked legit. They should still cover it and or ask BMW to help them with the cost too.

The dealer should be held liable since they were the ones responsible for allowing this key to be made. It would then be on the dealer to figure out who within the dealership processed the paperwork etc to begin having it made.

You don’t necessarily need the details on the people, if the dealer some how “doesn’t figure it out” they will still be liable since they were the ones to somehow allow it in the first place.

You’d assume for security related things such as keys, it would require a two person sign off but given it’s an inside job they could’ve just as easily by passed said requirements.

Definitely keep us posted and stay on the dealer’s ass about it until you get some solid answers on who signed off on what.

Not shocked at all. 99% of dealerships are fucking scumbags. So why wouldn’t people who work their do this shit? Hope they get ass cancer

When dealers do this, the name should be on whatever invoice made by bmw whenever a transaction like this was made. Because there has to be some sort of record for it.

Like oh Joe Schmo ordered a new key fob. Let’s look in the data base. Oh he ordered it June 1 2023, which one at bmw processed this? Oh it was Greg? Ok let’s go investigate this.

That’s how they would find out who at bmw is helping these thieves.

I would actually consider suing if I was the OP.

I hope it works out in your favor, you nab the bad guys and don’t have to worry about this anymore.

It’s far beyond what anyone should have to do to feel safe in their home with their property, but I wish you the best regardless.

Rooting for you!
