No power adjustable steering?!
I was very surprised when I got my M4CX that the steering wheel has to be adjusted manually! Also, what the heck is the reason for a blank button space in the passenger side door where the memory buttons are for the driver? In my opinion this isn’t acceptable for a 90k luxury sports car….I digress. Still love the car though.

It's more "if the customer wants this, they need to step up to the M5/M8," but sure, it's the weight thing

It's still based on a 3 series. I wish Bowers and Wilkins was an option but hey it's alright.
I have full leather and the lower doors aren't which is because of what I mentioned above

They wanted it to be at least at the quality of the M3, although I suppose some secretly wished for a 5,6,7 or 8 series level. There has to be some distinction - purely for marketing purposes - otherwise BMW would just make two cars, a coupe and a sedan. You know, like they did 40 years ago.

This car is still just a 3 series. Almost bottom of the totem pole lol. Expectation of 7 series quality is laughable to me. Especially when people get bent over like this

Yeah 100k is nothing these days. I mean, I'm not even putting collision insurance on this pos.

It’s nice when you shut the car down that the steering wheel goes up and makes it easier to get out of the vehicle. Also helps avoid damaging the bottom part of the steering wheel. If you ever had this function in a vehicle then you would know what I mean. Even the Mercedes-Benz C class has it. So there’s that. If a $50,000 Mercedes-Benz can have it why not a $90,000 BMW? It’s a legitimate complaint but obviously the guy shouldn’t say anything here because it’s not being received very well.

Also more importantly, some of us have spouses that are smaller that would like to drive the car once in a while, and aren't good with manual adjustments of the steering wheel. This would make my wife almost never want to drive the car. I guess you can rationalize that as a good thing, but on a rare occasion I may need her to drive it.

With a car already this heavy, what's another few pounds?
I think it's more of a cost-saving measure than weight reduction. Or maybe it's both. With motorized side mirrors, seats, trunk already standard or available on the G8x, BMW could've easily included it in the Exec pkg. I personally don't share my cars with anyone else, so it's not a problem for me. But I do understand how it could be a very useful feature for someone who has trouble getting in/out of the car or share the ride with their SO. |
