It makes it kind of hard to sneak up on pedestrians.

No, I think the probability for resolution is low as it seems like an artifact of the design and have no time to waste with the dealer only to say that CCBs are noisy by nature. Next week I’ll lift it up and track it down with a rubber dead blow. Will post my findings and ideas to limit rattle.

My CCB's on my Aventador are as quiet as a church mouse. I don't understand why BMW (which has a very large R and D department too) can't figure it out?

I had a similar issue on my '16 340i. I stuffed some old shop towels up there to see if the noise would go away, which it did. I totally meant to change the old towels out for some foam or something and promptly forgot about it. That car was bought by someone on the East coast and I wonder every once in a while if they ever found my old towels...

I'm take a look at this but I'm almost certain it's not the issue in my case. Mostly because I can make the noise stop with slight brake pressure over the same areas.

Just because an SIB can apply to your car does not mean you go in and ask for it. It is like a knowledge board. Customer has same issue/symptom as described, then you can perform a known fix. You don’t just go into dealer saying “perform all TSB’s” (they will laugh at you, trust me). I would say don’t chase issues they don’t exist or you’ll never be happy.

Agreed, street pads would be worth looking at if you can't stand the squeal. I've been looking for different pads for less dust and squeal for moderate street driving. |

Thanks for posting these! Anything lately regarding a squealing noise when cold start in cold weather? For the belt tensioner and idler pulley?

I might have seen older ones talking about this issue. But I’m not sure. I’ll definitely look and if it matches your concerns, you’ll be the first to know 😉

Appreciate it! Over on another thread about the cold start squeal, we are all discussing it. Someone posted their BMW Tech's video and the tech mentioned there was a "measure" in place that instructed to replace the belt tensioner and idler pulley if this noise is present
