Hey, this is my first time building a brand new car let alone an M car. Dealer had an allocation but I can’t use it because I want an individual color. What is the wait time that some of you have experienced without an allocation? Would love to hear all feedback, thank you !

Why won’t they let you place an order for an individual color if they have an allocation?

From what I was told the allocation is for all Color options except the individuals which take a little bit longer to build and deliver rather than colors like alpine white or Portimao blue

I’m cool on the wait honestly, I’m not in a rush but I would like to know an estimated wait time from people who have dealt with the same thing

If they really have an allocation you should be able to select an individual color. Something smells in Denmark

Hmmm, makes sense so would the allocation make it still a 3-4 month wait or would it bump it back 2 or 3 months which would make it 6-7/8 months wait

I’m definitely going to go to the dealer in person tomorrow and figure out what’s going on. I got approved put in my build order and the last few days I’ve been getting the run around.

An allocation is an allocation. The only way you would be denied for an individual color is if you were trying to order a 2024 M3, which you’re not, or a color that will not be approved. If the dealer is telling you they have an allocation, but not for individual paint, it’s because they don’t want to place the order and wait for the sale to come in. Dealers play these games all the time, don’t let them.

Yeah any allocation can be ordered in individual color, when I ordered mine, BMW of Ontario got me an allocation but denied ordering me an individual, said they don't do that, but BWM of Santa Barbara was able to do the individual for me

As far as wait times, lets say in general these cars take about 3 months to get to the dealer from the date of order, but the individual part will add about a month to 2 months to that order

I ordered my car in July and took delivery in January

Yeah that’s ridiculous. Plenty of M4 allocations out there, so if they can’t give them what you want tell them you’re walking.

Update // I got everything sorted out, salesman told me his manager made a mistake with the build adding the M vinyl (which I didn’t want) on accident and that’s why it was giving him trouble. But he put the order in and in a few days I’ll have my production number
