Over the years Bmwna has sent a few trinkets or stuff to people that buy specific cars, that were a niche car is like the z4 coupe above. But in general if it’s a volume car like a 3 series, they didn’t really do anything, sometimes the dealer did , based upon your experience with them.

They couldn't give them away for the last year and a half of production, despite only being built in tiny numbers (1815 for our market over 3 years). Towards the end, people were getting obscenely huge discounts. The one I bought in August 2007 had been on the lot since the previous November. I got a smoking deal without even trying very hard. BMW had just put $5k of "trunk money" on them to help move them out. They hit the bottom of their depreciation curve around late 2015 and have been rising steadily since. I hope to own another one someday, but I've got noplace to put it without ditching one of my existing cars, and that's not happening. Probably.

I got a free track day at thermal (which I converted to teen driving school for my son) when I leased my 2017 340 - no such luck with my leased 2020 M340

On M cars you get a half day at the SC or CA driving experience. If you put some pressure on your SA or their manager you should easily be able to get you a shirt or hat. Just check with the parts desk and see what they have in stock. Especially with this selling at MSRP or a lot more total BS the least they can do is toss in some swag.

I got the email for the new owners track drive too (9/21 purchase). My SA also gave me a Parts Dept. IOU for key chains (X3M x2) and a BMW jacket.

There is no such thing as a "X3M" keychain, so Parts Dept. gave me 2 X3's and M keychains. I didn't like any of the jackets they had in stock, so after some back and forth with the Parts guy had him order me Classic Motorsport's Jacket

In hindsight, I probably should of pushed for more considering I paid MSRP. Was too excited to get out of there and drive

Quit your bitching. The jacket could very possibly be worth more than the commission your salesperson earned, and how much of his time did you take?

And make sure you order it big enough. I'm not a huge guy and always wore around a 44 sport jacket, but my M-sport jacket is as large as they make—an XXL.

Whoa there, no intent from me to bitch. I'd like to think I was an easy customer, they took more of my time. I knew what I wanted and got it. I did not haggle on price as they offered it at MSRP to me right off the bat and I put a deposit down. It was a dealer allocation in QC status so just had to wait a week. Showed up with pre-approved loan but financed with BMW, for loyalty credit, at 1.9%. I spent more time with the Finance guy than I did with the SA.

I got a $100 for the merch shop at the dealer. Got a nice key chain, some tire nozzle caps, and a 12 volt flashlight (not a great choice there). Also, the track day email (which I am still waiting to turn in).

I thought those were nice compared to other purchases. Volvo gave nothing extra. Infiniti nothing. Jag gave me a nice little hard back book. In the end, they were all nice and enjoyable vehicles to drive, as I expect the BMW will be also.

Ignore his silly post. NFW that the commission was remotely close to the cost of that crappy jacket. Dealership is making 6% on the front end at MSRP, and another 6 on the back end. Jacket might be worth $100. If the dealership is paying less than $100 commission on a car they made a 5-figure profit on, nobody would take that sales job.

Talk to a sales advisor if you don't believe me. By the time the dealership piles their "pack" onto each car and doesn't include the hold-back they get each month in what they use as "commissionable-gross" to figure SA earnings, it is not unusual for the salesman to be paid simply a "mini" which is their minimum per-unit spiff which can be as little as $250. A friend at an MB dealer gets a "flat" on each model with the least being A and C-class cars, going up on the larger cars.

Just because you think everyone is making a killing on every car sale these days, remember BMW doesn't make any more if the dealer sells the car at MSRP or if they give it away at below cost. Many salesmen are required to hit a volume level before they enjoy anything more than 20% of computed "gross-profit". With the pathetic volume of BMWs reaching the dealer these day, some salespeople will never hit a bonus level and some dealers do not pay on gross, just units. And some dealers don't really give a shit if the salespeople earn a good living, or not. Many think any schlemiel off the street can give a car away at MSRP these days, so they pay them accordingly. I know the cost of the jacket because I own one. If I'm exaggerating, it isn't by much! I've been doing this since when a 2002 was a current BMW model and not a year.

I think there are dealer freebies that you get at delivery, which could be anything - it's all up to the creativity and budget of your dealer. I actually routinely ask for them to throw in tint or floor mats at the very end of the deal to see if they'll bite.

On the other hand, there are freebies from BMW themselves that you get in the mail after purchasing the car. I got this after purchasing my E90 M3:

I found a golf umbrella and light padded jacket from the accessory catalog on the passenger seat when I picked mine up. Nice surprise, but definitely dealer's doing, not BMWNA. I've bought multiple MBs, a Volvo, a SAAB and a Jaguar over the years and I've never gotten anything.

I also got an image of my E92 M3. But BMWNA hasn't done anything like that for about 10 years now.
