The finance situation is reflective of where the market is today and unfortunately I don’t think we’ll ever see the days again where leases were so damn sweet.

I love cars, there are just other things I also enjoy in life that have price tags too.
True, I do really love this car. Hopefully it’s a nice investment when they stop production on manual M’s, but who knows. For the money, it should probably have a better front. There is a reason why 99% of my pictures are from the back 😂😂😂😂😂

Beautiful M3. Very similar to my spec (but mine is a 2022). Love the buckets - they are a commitment worth making.

Have fun!

It will never be an investment, sorry to burst your bubble here. Buy it, drive it, enjoy it, but it will never appreciate in value.

They’ve held their value well to the point I’ve seen people sell their G8x back to dealers that gave them the same money they paid for it to mark it up and sell to others.

Agreed it won’t appreciate but the platform definitely is doing well in the sales department.

Sorry, didn’t mean to use the word “investment” but more so “hold it’s value”. I know it’s not going to be the s&p 500, but maybe after 3 years when I have the chance to buy the car for $59k, it will be selling for much more. But never say never, keeping this car at low mileage for 20 years, when every car is mandatory EV’s. We might be working with something 😂😂😂. People like us, who love manuals, and gas powered cars, will have to search in the preowned market. :/

We won’t be seeing those days for a very, very long time.

Regarding the climate control accessibility, you shouldn't have to use the menu often. Turn on the automatic program, and set your preferences. It took me a day or two to get mine where I wanted them. Now literally the only reason I would ever need to go in there is to turn the whole system off when I drop the windows, or back on when I put them up. So I added that function to my shortcuts, and now I never have to if I don't want to.

On my E90, it takes four button presses to accomplish this (I keep the fan at the middle setting), so the two touches at different spots on the G80 is roughly equivalent.

If you want a high performance EV you can easily get 20-25k off new, but who wants one of those?!

Yes, I meant compared. 83 months is not 10 years. That would be 120 months 😉

I would never take a 120 month term for a car as I don’t keep them that long. Everyone’s situation is different and if someone intends to keep their car for more than 10 years I’m in no position to question the term of their loan. 83 months was 8.88% through BMW but my Credit union offers a 120 month loan at 9.35%. Maybe the person is buying beyond their means but again, not my place to tell people what is best for them.

I’m happy there are people who can pay cash for their car. Most of us are not in that position.
are you seriously saying there are car loans for 120 months?? theres no way..

i've always been taught that if you can't afford to pay a car off in 36 months you're buying too much car

Yes, many Credit Unions offer a 120 month term.

As far as purchasing a car, I was taught the same….35 years ago from my parents who never bought a new car in their lives yet always wanted something better. I don’t want. Life’s too short.

That was maybe true 30+ years ago when cars were closer in price compared with average incomes. Those days are long gone.

Obviously not saying that everyone should be paying cash, I'm 100% firmly not in the "no financing ever" camp, just saying you'll be paying less over 5 or 6 years with a traditional finance than you will on this balloon option.

I understand. For me it was a combination of lowest payment and lowest interest. It seemed the 5.99% for 5 years with the ballon was the best choice for me. Likely it’s not the ideal decision from a financial perspective but it was for me.

I think 48 is the new norm.

Congrats on one bad ass vehicle... 3 pedals FTW!! Got my '24 M4 base in pretty much exact same spec (minus carbon buckets and exterior carbon bits)... from the same dealership. . Overall dealer experience was very good (for BMW which is a low bar in my experience) and now, ~3 months later after break in / ppf / ceramic coating / tint / Mid pipe / CDV removal - I couldn't be happier with the car. Whether its the last manual model or not, I am planning to drive it till the wheels fall off or repairs become too costly.

It's 100% cost cutting. I've had mine for a year, and it still drives me f-ing crazy.

I am not a fan either (no pun intended), but I found voice controls work very well.

I really hate talking to my car. I have tried to use it, but I find it annoyingly slow, and often takes repeated attempts. Plus it kills my music. Just give us fucking buttons! And actual mechanical buttons. Not capacitive buttons with haptic feedback.

I agree, it’s not ideal. And I miss actual physical buttons as well. But given the choice between toggling screen menus while driving or just saying “change temperature to blah”, saying it is definitely easier for me.
