M Performance Towing Strap

Hi guys,

BMW released a new video with new M Performance parts and at 9min21s we can see a new one for our G8x, a towing strap (with matching color ?)

Any idea where to find the part number(s) (perhaps several ones if it comes painted) ?

See picture and video

It's not out, yet. I'm keeping an eye out for it. I will make a thread once its released.

I have a part number, but, I'm not going to post anything, yet, because it doesn't show up as anything, right now.

So, I'm not going to put something out there, that could potentially be incorrect.

Yes, saw the IND one but seems expensive + I'm in Europe so shipping and customs... That's why I am waiting for the OEM one.

They do. But not one with an ///M logo stamped on it, with a BMW part number.

Not to mention, IND already commented that they’re waiting for the part number for the tow strap, so, we will see a BMW tow strap on their car when the part becomes available.

This 100%. I mean if you're actually using the strap things have gone from bad to worse!

You've never had an engine mechanical (or something dumb like out of gas) on track and have to get pulled off?

Right? For some tracks, it’s mandatory to have a tow strap. Take for instance, Thunderhill West, closest to my house. It’s mandatory.

Yes, mandatory on all track days in France. I guess Europe is the same.

Just came across this. I like the idea of a longer loop (like in the vid above) to get some distance between my car's flesh and whatever metal hook the track truck has.

The bmw one is similar, it’s just tied up in most of the pics.

IND with it's paint shop has a nice competitive advantage but is very pricey. I do not expect the OEM MP piece will be offered with a painted cover but should be less expensive, even at OEM prices. I may end up with the IND but gonna hold out to see what BMW does.

While slotted cover looks cool I think I'd remove it on track. There is a good chance it gets mangled depending on the angles you get yanked. Track workers give zero shits about your cosmetics.

Yeah I have the IND ones but the slotted cover makes no sense for actual track application. Maybe for hard parking at C&C. I keep my front strap tucked in behind the cover when not at the track and remove the cover and extract the strap when I am. The rear one I install at the track.
