Anyone care to guess what the weight distribution will look like RWD vs xDrive?

Ha, there are only two things that usually happen when launching an AWD car with a manual transmission...Bog down or Burn some clutch...anything else is pure luck...That is why most OEMs do not offer launch control in a manual AWD ( except Focus RS) |

//M cars used to indicate the owner/driver was an enthusiast and willing to make compromises to emphasize performance (RWD vs AWD due to lower weight/inherently better performance, etc.). However, BMW seems enamored w/options and configurations. Sales seem to support their approach.
This is why I traded-in my M4 and bought an OG M2 - maybe the last M car that values design basics over trying to be all things to all buyers. |

I owned Evos for about 10 years, and beat the crap out of it and the engine never gave up. Launching the car and clutch wear was a different issue, and my friends were always impressed with my driving. Either way you should drive a AWD for a week or two and come back with some feedback on launching and driving in general. Would be very curious. |

In all seriousness if one likes to track BMWs but doesn't have the means to acquire a M4GTS I can't see any reason why they would acquire this new M3/M4 instead of a M2c or an older M4/M3. Due to size alone this new model will be so far removed from older M3's. Ya, the performance will be there but it's still a big car.

G80 AT G80 Competition MT But there's no way that there's going to be an MxDrive MT because the MxDrive drivetrain owes a lot of it's smoothness and efficiency to the ECU having full control of both the transmission and MxDrive modules. This would not be possible with a MT because the driver has full control of the transmission. |

I've gotta say that there's some really crazy posts here in a thread all about choice. Are some of you really so intolerant that you can't appreciate that different people like/want/need different things?

Awesome news. AWD is inevitable but they really are smart to offer both AWD M-xDrive and RWD. No one else is doing that. Traction is such an issue with modern power levels that if BMW wants to stay competitive then they have to go AWD or start designing their RWD M cars to include 305+ width tires. This is how Chevy, Ford, and Porsche are getting it done.
I am all in on an M-xDrive M3/4 and would expect it will be AT only as MT and DCT would have to be incredibly stout and probably not cost effective to develop. I just hope optioned MSRP stays closer to $75k than $85k. |

The interesting thing is, what determines if I pass you on a racetrack or whether you pass me, has absolutely nothing to do with the gearboxes in our cars. I would also point out that the CS models are not exactly flying off the shelves, there are no angry mobs breaking windows to get at them. But go ahead and try to buy a 911 GT3 Touring with a manual transmission. The demand is insane. Must be a lot of people who simply don’t understand that the 6MT in the $150k GT3 is an afterthought and that the engine was developed around the wonderful 7PDK gearbox.

How long was your M5 test drive and what type of road? I'm not interested in a 4 door sedan, but intrigued with the new MxDrive that I spent $6,000 + for a 2 day test drive earlier this month at the Ring in the M5– what an animal it was!

The CS residuals are in the mid 4's, the monthly lease payment must be around a M5.
