Keep exhaust valves open on G80 / G82 M3 / M4 models using Fi Remote

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com

Fi EXHAUST valvetronic performance exhaust system is compatible with OEM / factory sound button, which activates exhaust valves and produces a sportier note. However, when the sound button is activated the valves don’t instantly open. Instead they are variable and gradually open fluctuating between fully closed and halfway open. The exhaust valves using factory settings open depending on load, RPM, .i.e., 4,000 and speed. And dipping below these conditions valves adjusts automatically to close.

However, for those drivers that seek an unobstructed sound and M car deserving sport sound we find the combination of our exhaust setup and remote to be the most optimal solution for the G8X models. Drivers can expect increased sound volume and sportier note differentiated in each mode, especially, in Sport and Sport + modes, the latter offering more pronounced and powerful burbles.

And the remote allows drivers to bypass the stock settings in order to force the valves to fully open and close. The remote control is designed with 2 buttons with the top button turning valves ON and bottom – OFF by default. Additionally, the system comes with a mobile APP functionality, where users can set up Auto Mode. In this mode works the exhaust valves can be set to automatically open based on RPM/Speed/Turbo Boost.

Exhaust setup for the BMW G80 / G82 M3 / M4 offers dynamic configurability, allowing drivers to fine-tune their car's sound profile and sound volume by upgrading both or either the catback and downpipes. By replacing restrictive factory catalytic converters our downpipes take it a step further. In sport drive mode, they introduce an extra layer of aggressiveness, amplifying the sound volume and delivering exhilarating burbles that truly set your G8X apart from the rest.

Remote Control Ring Customization

The remote control rings can be personalised to match the body of your car. Available both in aluminium alloy and forged carbon. Aluminium Alloy rings are available in 14 distinct colours to match each user's preference. However, Forged Carbon rings offer a unique marble like texture. The distinct pattern on the forged carbon rings guarantee that no 2 sets will be the same. And the rings are available in gloss or matte sheen for those going for an understated luxury look.

Tip Layout and Colors

Discover the versatility of the Fi EXHAUST muffler, offering two distinctive tip layouts: the M-Performance triangular design and the standard quad tip layout.
For those seeking a conversion, our M-Performance style muffler is the perfect choice. Paired with a carbon fiber diffuser upgrade, it seamlessly replaces the factory component, ensuring an exact fit and an eye-catching appearance.
Customize your muffler further with a wide range of tip colors, including silver, titanium blue, diamond black, gold, and carbon fiber options. Personalize your vehicle's look and performance with Fi EXHAUST.

Catback vs Axle / OPF back exhaust versions.

Our catback setup is engineered to provide a seamless upgrade, replacing the factory front pipe, mid x-pipe, and muffler with a high-flow design, enhancing your vehicle's performance and delivering a sportier driving experience. No FEMTO DME/ECU unlock or tune is required with this upgrade.
For EU spec models equipped with OPF/GPF filters, we also offer an axle/OPF back exhaust option. This configuration includes the muffler while retaining the aforementioned filters. This solution caters to users who may not have decided on tuning yet but desire a more hearable exhaust note. It's important to note that this upgrade involves cutting the stock exhaust for installation, ensuring a precise fit and optimal performance.

Material Selection

Our exhaust system is meticulously crafted from top-tier T304 stainless steel, ensuring exceptional durability and performance. For those seeking the ultimate in weight reduction, we offer a full titanium option. Opting for titanium typically results in an impressive weight reduction of approximately 46% when compared to the stainless steel variant. Upgrade your vehicle with the perfect blend of strength and lightweight design.

So will they sell a separate “sound kit” like Akra, Dahler and VSC? Or have to buy a fatback to get the unit?

So, I have a few questions about the controller:

You said: connect to the actuators, connect to power, controller lives inside and connects to OBD2.....so do you need a full time OBD2 connection? Wired or wireless? Any issues with draining the battery due to a constantly active connection.

Next, can you elaborate more on the load / RPM settings? What exactly can you customize based on this? Like, it runs stock below 30% throttle but if you exceed 30% throttle, you force them open? Etc?

Thank you.

From the looks of it you have to run wiring from the control box inside the cabin to the actuators, then connect the box to the obd port for power and that's about it. Not sure about power draw, doubt its enough to drain the battery, this isn't like a dashcam that uses up to 5watts for motion/shock detection.
If you skip to 4:10 in the first video you'll see you can open the valves based on speed or rpm or boost, pretty cool.

I’m sorry, these setups sound awful. Im thinking a single midpipe with a resonator (no straight pipes) with a custom made AWE axle back touring setup might be the ticket to eliminate that raspy obnoxious sound and keep the low rumble. I dont understand why these manufacturers think amplifying a 💩 sound with an open valve/straight pipe makes it sound better?

So the S58 just continues to sound even more terrible.

I wonder if BMW just ran outta money to make the thing sound good.

Because there's not a chance you'd have an S63 next to an S58 and be like wow the S58 sounds good.

We could be launching a standalone remote system that also works with factory exhaust and valves. If this comes to pass, we'll announce it on our platforms.
