It is reasonable to believe that this sort of muffler is here to stay - it's relatively prominent on the E92 M3, more so on the F80/82, and even more so on the F87C...and now again on the G80.
Muffler? Who even needs them anyway
Why does this look weird to me
it looks like the car is waddling to the outhouse to take a massive shit

I cannot stop looking at the freaking can hangout out in the back ... ugh. I hope they extend the bumper to hide it a little better or something ... I realize I'm not the first to say this...

I also wish they'd do a teensie bit more of a trunk lip than that little shim they slapped on there for the F80s.

Finally, I hope it sounds much better than the last. If it's sound is tolerable this might get me to try one out and keep me from going into the pcar market. Although my F80s did have faults, and the new one surely will... there's no better car I've come across that can be a blast at the track, pick up the kids from school and still have some decent amenities while commuting.

Because 1 piston is cheaper and 1/2 as likely to have a problem with a piston?
Also, probably just not needed. I believe the front e92 was floating caliper.

But I will say it looks kind of cheep and corner cutting.

The G80 has the ass udder too.
I think it looks like that due to an aerodynamic advantage. Basically using the muffler as part of the aero system.

Electronic handbrake is the cause. Do an image search for electronic handbrake caliper and you'll see the mechanism they use.

Same reason why Ferrari's, McLarens etc have the main big caliper and a small additional sliding caliper at the rear for the handbrake.

Can't wait to see you try and spin this one. Perhaps it will somehow relate back to the awesome 2 series minivan...
It's has become de rigeur to dismiss the Active Tourer but intruth.
The Active Tourer has been especially healthy profit wise that has contributed and enabled all number of projects to be assisted across the entire Group.

The arrival of UKL based BMW shared with MINI has enabled MINI to be profitable since its modern conception. The MINI profits were virtually non existent and money was made back by the available to personalise with accessories.
UKL based MINIs/BMWs have exceeded projected targets for 600,000 units.

Add the upcoming F40 1er and 2er Gran Coupe for further success.

The costs shared with BMW now show alongside with the profits from personalisation programmes.
Now there is strong debate but no final decision with Mercedes/Smart to assist BMW/MINI For future models.
"Success" at BMW in the 2000s is FWD profit.

I'm just hoping that all this FWD profit also allows for a couple more RWD gems ...

Well...the exhaust sounds better from what I can tell at least. I'm not feeling the aesthetics though.

Eagerly awaiting scheduling test drive although X4M - arriving earlier - may change that.

Have you seen one of the new 340's in person yet? I have to admit they look much better in person than they do online.

I'm hoping the same applies to the G80

I know, but I can't wait.
I was lucky and all mine 6 M3's were the very first production and didn't have problems. Mine bad habit is to sell it after couple years and get LCI. Lol

That rear spoiler is a nice look, I wonder if (the spoiler) is part of the trunk or a separate optional part?

Start-up at 2:50 in new vid sounds good.
