FWIW - The posters on the BW forums love their cars and it definitely feels like the manual take rate is very high.
If you were deciding on transmission feel alone you would take the Cadillac as the Tremec TR6060 feels less rubbery than the Getrag unit in the BMW. That said it's not as reliable as you will see plenty of issues on Camaro, Challenger, and Mustang Shelby forums if you care to look.

The GM dude who came on Jay Leno's Garage said that they've been seeing a take rate of 50% on preorders, so that makes sense.

I have a base G80 and I love it and wouldn't trade it for anything. But sometimes that deep V8 sound just has me like...

coming down to G80 manual vs ct4v blackwing

78700 vs 71445

could prob get the $2500 penfed rebate and maybe a goodwill repeat bmw owner $1000 discount

hard choice.

i think both chassis are good. both motors are good. i think bmw has better build quality, but then again i have never owned a GM product.

The TR6060 is by no means perfect but's it's been my experience that they are damn near indestructible, within reason.
Have/had several cars with 700+ whp/wtq-all with upgraded clutches-that have been driven aggressively for thousands of miles with no issues.
Beyond this power level you'll need something from Tick or RPM.
The best part of TR6060 is that they're so pervasive there's tons of aftermarket support and the upgrades, clutches etc. are a fraction of the cost relative to BMW, Porsche etc.

Came across this recent long term review of the CT4 Blackwing. I know there has always been love for Cadillac steering and mag suspension but surprised to see them mention their preference for the Caddy over the manual G80. Would have figured the other factors would have given overall nod to the G80.

What so sad about driving the best? why mess around with anything else if you're happy with what drove for many years.

This is a comparison thread and people fail to look past a particular brand when things have evolved. I work in the auto industry and come across people regularly who stick on to a particular brand or even a specific vehicle for life.

Current M cars (excluding CS, CSL and other limited editions) are more of a ultimate DD / GT than an ultimate driving machine which targeted enthusiasts (specifically) in late 90s and early 2000s. No vehicle is perfect and each one has its pros & cons and whole point of thread is to discuss the equivalent comparisons.

This is very emotional thread. Lol. Some people will never like or want Cadillac. Just get over it and move on, no need to call people names.

Many of us are familiar with BMW and M from prior offerings, but have little exposure to Cadillac. Since we cannot just go drive one, makes it tough to really consider.

I ordered my G80 by extrapolating from previous BMWs I've owned and driven. We'll see in a few months if this was a good idea.

I'm an individual who likes to try new things and I don't tie myself to a specific brand to do so. I had a X3M last and then I wanted an engaging manual sedan for 2-3 years. I opted for the 4BW to try something different and I really enjoy the car. In another year and half I'll get rid of it for either a M2, M3 or a 982 manual. Then when I get rid of that car in a couple of years I'll try another one on the list. I don't really have a desire to own the same vehicle twice. That 3 car list gives me 6-10 years worth of manuals to try out. Who knows, maybe something else will come to market before we're force into electric.

I will add that something I enjoy about the 4BW and living in Michigan is that the people who designed this car live here as well. They live here, they love cars and they go to the track. You can go to track days and sit and talk with everyone from the lead designer on down for this car and I have. It's actually kind of neat. That's one experience I'll never get owning a BMW or Porsche

I cannot really picture a Cadillac any way except the way they were in the 80’s… luxury barges.

It was like riding around in a high class living room and I really liked it a lot, but I don’t think of sport when I think of Cadillac. I think of comfort. Again, these are old perceptions.

I’m not saying the BW is not sporty, this is just my perception. I’d love a caddy, not sure I’m ready for that yet though. I feel like when I hit 50/60 I may want that brand.

Then again, I also always think of Caddy as THE quintessential mafioso car ha ha.

Not that that’s bad or anything (please don’t whack me.)

I posted recently in another thread about the BW5. I'm not a fan of American cars, the Blackwing 5 is too big, my friend says his BW5 (black, tinted, not lowered) interior is kinda cheap. But the sound and driving experience and fun is so crazy awesome (in my opinion) that I offered him $25,000 to trade for my M4CX. Nope. He's got 2 kids and wife, the 4 door is practical.

If he would've said "yes" the BW5 would've been my weekend/break from work heart pounding option and I would've purchased another EV to go with my old Lexus SUV. I have no regret passing up on two MSRP C8 in the past few years. I do have hindsight regret not getting a BW5.
