Optioned it with a roof that folds down.

I like the utility of the moon roof, but I'm a bigger fan of the looks of the CF roof.

Exactly how I view moonroofs as well. My first car was a '87 Pontiac Fiero and the glass moonroof could be manually removed and placed in the trunk, which I happily did even at night or on cloudy/cool days.

For my G82 I went with CCBs and carbon bucket seats, so those together should offset the moonroof's effect on center of gravity (so long as I don't go crazy with holiday cookies!)

I had the sunroof on the RWD and didn't use it much. My new car with XDrive is coming with CF roof. I track once a month so the CF roof makes perfect sense and looks better.

I ordered my G82 with the moonroof, but the car is still just a bunch of 1's and 0's on a hard drive somewhere in the BMW system. All 4 BMWs I've owned, including my current F82 M4, had either a sunroof (my 1994 E36 325iS) or a moonroof (2005 E46 330Ci and 2010 E92 335i M Sport coupe). I open it when it's not too hot or cold outside here in Sacramento. Also, I prefer the roof color matched the the body of the car over the the black carbon fiber.

I’m torn on this option too. Since I’m going with black exterior a CF roof is not going to ‘pop’ like the other colors, but because I’m also doing the CF buckets I think the two will complement each other nicely.

Damn right I did. This car is no Ferrari so why not. Didn't have one in my 991s and hated how dark and closed in it was. So didn't make that mistake with this one.

Isn't the G80 like 3800+ lbs? How much benefit to overall weight/CG could a carbon roof seriously provide? And will such a benefit even be noticed in any setting outside the very limits on a track environment?

I get that the carbon roof looks nice from outside, but it's simply not worth sitting inside a cave every day. I wouldn't buy a car without a moonroof, period.

It's only an issue if you track your car a lot and wear a helmet. I believe most of us here aren't skilled enough to notice the difference in centre of gravity either.

I personally find moon roof useless and love the look of carbon fibre weave. Can't help but bought all the M-performance carbon bits so CF roof if just something I must have lol

Always been a fan of moon roof , even though I think the car looks very nice with a CF roof. Like the extra light and air with the moon roof. Function over looks

Never liked sunroofs. If any of my former cars came with it then fine and never opened them but if there was an option to get a car without one I always chose without

I got a moonroof car because it was available. I would never have picked it otherwise. Never open, hate using them, and dont have the CF roof.

WDYM you paid extra? In a G8X? It's a no cost option. :

Like many, I opted for the CF roof. I rarely use the moonroof in my X5, and really like the appearance of the CF.

It's a 500 dollar option (here in Canada) to get the moonroof. I joked and I told my dealer they should be paying me money for giving the CF roof back which is worth way more than glass.

Oh wow, no idea on that. Feel like BMW Canada gets no love.

I hate moonroofs. Noisy, let sun in to bake when opened. When it's hot the moonroof is closed and a/c is on. Between the carbon and the flow of the roof no way I'd replace it. and with the weight loss of the moonroof (glass, track, pan, motors), at the top of the car so it lowers the center of gravity.

I optioned my car with the CFR. I can't remember a car I owned that didn't have a sunroof or T-Tops but the older I got the more I hates sun beaming down on me. I bought my wife a convertible 335i and I would only drive it with the top down late evenings or early in the morning because I couldn't stand the heat or sun beating down on me. I also got Silverstone to lighten up the interior.
