Any road course guys running a tune?

I have a manual g80 on order and it should be here soon. I track frequently at Sebring. I'm looking for a tune just to get near stock comp power levels. Perhaps go the Fetmo route or just do a jb4 on the second map?

I believe people have had issues running JB4 on the track.

Thanks. I'm a bit surprised no one else has tried a tune on a road course...

Most track guys don't really care about extra hp on track. That's pretty much the last thing that will make you faster on most tracks. Tires, brakes, suspension etc. are way more significant.

And another reason is that most of us don't have an actual tune due to the FEMTO unlock that's required.
I'm sure some people have tracked with piggybacks such as JB4 or RaceChip, but like I said, they're just not that relevant on the track.

I have a currently have a JB4 on my G82 and personally I wouldn't run it at the track. Power delivery is surprisingly non linear with the JB4, even in lower settings like map 1 and 2. I'm probably going to do the unlock over the winter and see how an actual tune performs.

I run mine on a very safe 21psi absolute map as additive maps have big issues with leanout and consistency of fuel delivery. Increased my corner entry speed on long straights by quite a bit.

Unfortunately I'm not very good so it didn't help me much.

Is that jb4 or racechip? Which map?

I'm going to see if FEMTO can flash a comp tune on my manual g80 since I know the comp stock can take the power levels safe on track.

If you are planning on voiding the factory warranty there's no real point stopping at comp power levels.

Map 6 is infinitely configurable, where I have it is probably less than map 2 just more stable as it's absolute instead of additive. But no not that I have noticed. Power is consistent lap to lap.

If your post is in regards to the S58’s reliability on a circuit with a tune, I can confirm it’s very solid.
I tracked my X3m with a custom E70 tune 5 times in cold to warm weather, it never missed a beat, performing flawlessly. While not a typical track car, the extra power certainly made it faster.
As expected harder to control though, getting power down early out of corners was the toughest part.
I always fun TC fully off.

Ran 275 Cup 2’s all round, which are a bit overwhelmed by 700 odd HP.

I’ll be taking my G80 to the track for the first time in 2 weeks, will eventually add a 98 tune, followed by an ethanol tune. Will chart progress to see what difference camber, tyres, tune etc make incrementally.

That's interesting. Few questions!
- How did you setup your map 6 tune with the absolute target?
- Did you just set target psi and the tuner sets everything else around it?
- What octane are you running?

I don't have a JB4 but will look to get one after warranty is up. (If they haven't figured out how to crack the ECU by then)

Did you end up getting the JB4 and use it on track? What'd you think?

No, I ended up doing an ecu tune. It dramatically transformed the car and no issues on track.

Sounds sweet! Any other upgrades? Are you concerned about increased clutch wear? Did you have a local shop take care of DME removal and tune, etc for you?

Are you not satisfied with the exhaust?
Are you planning to run with stock exhaust and tune on track?

I am considering these mods so would appreciate your thoughts and input.
Whats your horsepower after tune?
