There is no stipulation against HPDEs. If it's the same warranty fine print as my F80, then you should have no problem so long as you are worn down to the last I think 1/8 in. of pad. Don't quote me on that number, I'm just going off memory. You can call your SA to get the right number.

However, if they see aftermarket track brake pads installed then they will NOT warranty your rotors. So make sure they are not installed when you bring your car in.

Any update on this? I'm in a similar position with a warranty concern, but also have BMW UC+ which covers pads. They told me they can't use UC+ until the pad wear light comes on. Well, after only 6k miles, the rear brake pad light came on.

Update: dealer replaced pads when they were worn, then replaced rotors+pads when the rotors were worn.

I was shocked to see how fast the rear pads were wearing when I pulled my winter wheel set-up a couple of months ago, then I realized how many interstate on ramps I took at full blast. Stability control is always kicking in to keep me off the Armco. The cost of fast acceleration is accelerated rear pad wear. It looks like you don't need to be on track to need new rear pads pretty often.

I was actually quite impressed with the OEM pads on track. Didn’t experience any fade. Warranty sounds like a great deal if you track a lot, but I would be concerned having to wait til 1/8 inch or til the sensors come on. I see myself running into the risk of it getting too worn in the middle of a track day and having to cut the day short.

BMW wants you to go to the last 3mm before they will warranty the pads. Take an extra set to the track if your going to run them down, looking at warranty. The last 3mm will vanish quickly, then you have backing plates. I thought I'd catch them before they got there, nope. I did have a new set of pads, front and rear, but the damage was done. I expected the pad sensors to warn me, but there are only right rear and left front. Neither warned, and the service screen came up saying I had 2800 mile before required brake service, then 400 miles a lap later, then contact with 360 miles remaining. I was able to capture all of these and they warrantied them. Installed new pads and finished the event. Kept old pads for afterward and all was covered. Dealer was excellent and all turned out great.

To make sure I'm understanding - BMW will replace pads under the STANDARD warranty? (I did not purchase any kind of additional warranty/coverage)

Thanks in advance.
