For those of you with delays. You can get your original rate lock!

I wanted to share this information hoping it helps others.

I ordered my car back in Oct with an allocation. At the time the rate for BMWFS was 0.9%. My rate was locked for 90 days.

I had received several delays. My original build week of 48 got pushed to week 50...then it was pushed 4 more times with a final build week of 3.

In January the rates went up to 1.9% and I got a little anxious. I called my dealer to have them extend my rate lock since I wouldn't be getting the car within the 90 days from my original credit pull. My dealer insisted that I wouldn't have to do that and when the time came they would get an exception through BMW for my original 0.9%.

More delays came, rates went up and now they are 2.99%. I ended up rate locking with Penfed since I really didnt trust my dealer that they would be able to deliver on my promised rate.

Now that my stop sales are done and my car should be her in a few days (hopefully), my dealer called me to go over financing. As promised, they were able to submit a financing exception with BMW and got my 0.9% rate.

I know there is a lot of unknown and people are getting different info from dealers but, it is possible. If you guys have gotten a delay and your rate expired, your dealer can submit an exception to BMW and get your original rate.

My dealer suggested this was possible as well, though I was a bit skeptical. Good to know it's been tested/verified.

I'm hoping for the same - hoping my dealer can get the exception!

You would be surprised what the sales manager can do IF, and I mean IF, they so choose to do it...
They can honor the program of the month the car was ordered/credit app was run.

It really seems to be at the dealer's discretion as I along with a few others on here pleaded multiple times to get our original financing rate but were told that it wasn't possible. I gave up and got financing from a local credit union at 1.75% for 60 months which I'll go with unless they have a sudden change of heart when I pick up my car later this month.

My dealer is a total POS from a customer service perspective. They wouldn't walk across the street to piss on me if I were on fire....

There is no chance they would do this.

That said, it's good info for people working with dealers who actually care about CS. I'm stuck with mine because they agreed to a solid and locked trade value for my current car 6 months ago with no mileage limits, etc.

Thanks for posting this. I am in a very similar position - got an approval for 0.9% financing in December. Made a big stink about getting the rate I was promised after the rate hikes and long build time. I've been assured by my CA that I will get the rate when I take delivery. Glad to know it worked out for someone else.

Can you tell us what dealership you used? They should get brownie points for doing the right thing by their customer.

Dealer is waiting to hear from BMWFS to confirm they can get me the 1.9% rate (it was 0.9% when I ordered, but they charge 1% above that).

Unfortunatley my BMW $1000 Drive Event Rebate expired the end of Feb. (and BMW won't extend that) and my Corporate sales rebate also expired in Jan. so it appears no discounts for me ;-(

Thanks to razman 's inquiry with our dealer (we share the same CA) both of us were able to get our original financing rates of 0.9%

I had asked our CA previously on more than one occasion but he didn't think it could be done however having another customer corroborate what we read here on the forums seemed to do the trick.

Good to hear this, since my 90 day lock is quickly running out. My relationship with the dealer has been really good so far, so hoping they do the same and work to get the exception.

Took delivery today and the I asked about the rate lock of 0.9% I also had the $500 loyalty rebate and the $1000 BMW settlement voucher. The BMWFS would only give me 0.9% with the $500 and not with the additional $1000. In the end they gave me 1.9% for using both. Since I plan to pay off the car in the next 6 months its still favorable for me to take the 1.9% with the $1500 total off.

It’s true. Last February I ordered an M440, it didn’t arrive until October and BMW not only honored the original interest rate, but each and every discount they promised. I have no doubt they’ll do the same if/when my G83 shows up.

I know some incentives are year specific, so if ordered in Feb. and delivered in Oct. of the same year the incentives were likely still good.

That's good to hear. I'm dealing with Bob at Ridgefield too. Me accepting the car if it ever gets here depending on getting the .9% or not.

I suppose those of us who ordered our vehicles (at lower rates), but didn't have an allocation at the time are out of luck. I ordered my car on Oct 23rd, gave a $500 deposit, filled out options, etc, etc….but I was #5 on the waiting list and consequently didn't bother running the credit check at the time. I since ran the check and locked in 2.99% in March when I finally received my allocation.

Those of you who are having your original (lower) rates honored…..did you actually have your credit checked way back when you were on a waiting list and didn't even have an allocation yet?

The rate lock is based on when your credit was run, not when the car was ordered or allocation received.
