How's the blackwing process? I can't imagine that's any better....

Mine is also autonation... They're nice people at my dealer... but a lot of it's a façade. They're tricksters with a smile.

Are you looking at the CT4BW or CT5BW. I started looking at CT5BW last week and looks like there is a $7k MSRP bump from MY22 to MY23.

I dunno... I don't trust these dealers. One of my dealers claimed they hadn't gotten an allocation for a few months only to have a bunch of '23 MY cars show up in-transit. When I confronted them about it of course they threw every excuse they had at me.
That is pretty suspect. Either those were old '22 builds that got pushed out or it's time to punt that dealer.

Just starting the process, so not sure how different from the M3 process this will be.

Looking at CT5BW, did see that they had a price increase for '23, but haven't seen what has changed, if anything, other than price, as they don't have '23 up yet. The one local dealer said he would reach out when he gets an allocation, as he didn't even know what options he will be able to get due to supply chain issues, so a simpler build may help. Time will tell.

Fortunately I trust my SA. I've bought from them before and trust this isn't the case. The dealer I'm going through doesn't charge over MSRP for any of their vehicles. Another reason why their M3 6MT waitlist is 25 names deep. I was told this shortly after I was told how many allocations they had received in August. They are a friendly, family owned dealer not a large national conglomerate of dealers. The only BMW dealer that services Jacksonville.

I'm not saying they are right I was only corroborating what an earlier member had stated. I really hope they are wrong because I'm 4th on the list which puts me at an outside possibility I'll get an allocation in September if the allocations do drop. If not, it'll be a long shot getting one for October and then hoping allocations drop in November. When I put my deposit down they did tell me it's been averaging 6-9 months on M3's through them.

I'm being optimistic because the first half of the year has had a bunch of anomalies. COVID hangover/supply chain delays, war in Ukraine, and the MY22/MY23 changeover. Then factor in the factory holiday in August. I'm hoping by 4th quarter things flow like they did pre-COVID but who knows. Like I said, I was told 6-9 months when I ordered I'm just hoping they are wrong.

Would be nice to hear from one of the members who actually works at a dealership that can dispel or corroborate the rumor.

Yeah that was one of their excuses... Another was that the CA thought I wanted a '23 from the get-go so he didn't sign me up for a '22 allocation back when I had supposedly moved to 1st in line in April. And yet another excuse was that these '23 deliveries were for customers who had their deposit in before me but wanted to hold off on getting an allocation until they could get '23 cars.

The only reason I'm not punting them is because I've been on their list the longest... No harm in staying on it until I either get an allocation through them or through the other dealer.

Honestly I'd respect a dealer more if they just straight up said... "yeah, we sell to the highest bidder... capitalism bitch". I'd give the sales guy a fist bump and say "respect".

I believe certain Driver assist features which were an option in MY22 has become standard in MY23. Even with those added features, i am not sure if $7k price increase is justifiable.

My SA said that between the 2 autonation dealers here in Vegas, they’re getting 160 allocations for the whole lineup. So I’m hoping that at a minimum 2 of those are M’s so I can finally get a production number. He got that number from the ordering manager so fingers crossed and hopefull.

So no truth to "no more allocations released for any dealers until October"?

CA just emailed my allocation.

Model: G80 6MT
On dealer waitlist since: 2/26/22
Dealer waitlist progression (from last month): was 1st in line at end of July
Received production number: Yes
Build week (if allocation was received): week 40. But I am still status 111, so week 40 isn't confirmed until I go status 112.

To put the above in context, my CA quoted me a 9 month wait from placing the order/deposit to my car arriving. So kudos to them for managing expectations well.

Well, just as I was starting to seriously look to secure a Blackwing, my CA sent me an email today that he had my allocation for an Oct build wk. He just needs me to come in to make sure it gets ordered right. He did admit he was getting really worried based on all the communication he was seeing coming from corporate saying that production was below expectations and to expect lower q4 sales. Once I have all my info will post it, as I have no idea where my build will actually land once he submits the individual paint request.

I did get the call... or rather... I made the call to my CA

I haven't made a big deal about it because I don't yet have a production #. CA has submitted the build for individual color approval and as soon as that comes back.... then I'll celebrate... with production # in hand.

That's awesome, about time! I think getting that allocation is more than reason to celebrate. Now prepare for the obsessive several times a day mygarage checking.

Thanks! I'll make a post about my journey as soon as I get that production #

Yes checking my garage will definitely be obsessive... but at least I won't be completely in the dark

My lucky day as well. I've been on two waitlist since April-ish. Got calls from both dealerships today saying they had an allocation for me. One of them said they got 7 M3 allocations today...seems like a ton got dropped. No production number communicated yet, but excited to be making progress
