If you are thinking about Tartufo and are worried that it is too orange...

If you are thinking about Tartufo and are concerned that it is going to be too orange, don't worry about it.

Most pictures make it seem very orange, and it is sometimes even confused with KO. There seems to be a lot of questions about how it looks in person versus photos. I don't think it photographs very well.

I was really very concerned, and I even saw a two Dravit Grey over Tartufo cars in the showroom before going into production.

After having my car for a couple of weeks, and seeing it in all different types of light, I can say that Tartufo is a very rich saddle brown. Sometimes I might even describe it as a cognac color.

I just looked at the car in the garage, and it almost looks like a very rich brown color.

Tartufo is a fantastic color.

Thanks for this post!

I felt the same way and still have my apprehensions about it haha.

In some pictures it looks like chocolate in others it looks orange as you say.

I'm super excited to take delivery this next week and see for myself.

I agree that saddle brown is the best way to describe it, although it's slightly to the orange side of saddle. Nonetheless,it's a fantastic color - very warm and rich. I get many complements on mine and it's a great combo with the Portimao paint.

I was in the same boat even after looking at samples from my dealership. It is very rich caramel brown, contrasts very nicely with the portimao blue.

That is a beautiful car. I think it goes great with a blue like that.

And I agree it does fall on the orange side of tint. But it doesn’t look orange, if that makes sense.

I have two of the “new” Tobacco color Saddleback Leather briefcases. It is kinda similar to that.

But the bottom line is that I initially was worried that it would be a bright color that is hard on the eyes and doesn’t age well. That I am happy to say is not the case.

And these pictures are about as orange as it will ever look.

Here is a good picture I just took — battleship grey Dravit and brown Tartufo.

Perhaps one of the reason this is such a good color combination is that both are so dynamic.

This is how I see Tartufo most of the time.

I agree with the caramel brown description, and that it looks fantastic with that blue!

And that is a very good picture that shows the day to day color I see.

Huge Tartufo fan here. But you gotta go Full with this color, extended is super abrupt where the doors meet the dash. Sounds like you can no longer order Tarfufo extended, so that will help all future builds get the full premium look and feel.

I know there is a huge preference for full on this site. But we affirmatively chose to stick with extended Tartufo.

I thought that the Tartufo on the lower dash was too much color in the line of sight. And I wanted a more utilitarian dash and upper door panel versus worrying about taking care of leather.

And the WeatherTech floor mats already are a very utilitarian look forward of the seats.

The black panel reminds me more of an aircraft or race car cockpit. All business.

I guess at its heart I see the M3 as more of a performance car versus luxury car. But that is a perception and preference thing. The nice thing about these cars is that you can get both performance and luxury!

I fully agree. I think for a more luxurious look, Full Tartufo is the way to go but I chose extended to keep the whole dash black for, what I consider, a more sporty look. I think it gives you the right balance of luxury and sport.

Thank you for this. Patiently waiting for my build to go into production and the only thing on the back of my mind is this - whether I should have gone black or not. Car exterior is BSM.

I think if you want race car / aircraft feel, you don't go Tartufo on the doors and black on the dash. You don't go Tartufo at all. All black for that look would be much better. And carbon buckets in any color would make it more business and performance oriented. Tartufo is the one color, and perhaps all black, that most screams "luxury" and not utilitarian.

But as you say it is just personal preference. I would liked to have saved $2500, but I fell in love with this splendid color, and since there is no black anywhere on the seats as most of the other colors have, I felt it looked very odd to not have it continue on the dash.

I've never been in a race car, but the airplanes I fly all have tan leather seats.

I am happy that I had this choice, and for the record think the extended Tartufo doors are perfect. The old school Ferrari (308, etc.) has the same black dash with tan leather seats and door panels.

I don't know what I would do given the 2023 LCI. Of course that also comes with iDrive8 and an xDrive trunk badge. Ugh.

I do admit that the full Tartufo in your pic looks great!

I very much admire you chose Tartufo with Dravit. I think that combination is amazing, and most Dravits choose something different. I commented on a Dravit / Tartufo photo a few weeks back, it looked wonderful.

I gotta be honest, if my car flipped to a the new dash layout, I would have bailed (M4 of course has 1 more year with ID7, so still time for M4 fans). The reason is two-fold. First, and most importantly, I love how the current generation's dash is designed. The screens are separate, the driver has a well defined cluster, and both areas are very well integrated with each other and the dash. Second, I just can't stand the stuck on wide screen. It might get slightly better one day if they build it in, but I still won't like it as much as what our dashes are. I can care less about additional tech over what my car already has, which is really too much. The cars drive the same, but as we agree you gotta love the inside.

I agree on all points (and Tartufo is the perfect choice for DG), but am not sure if I would have bailed on a 2023. I am glad I don't have to weigh that decision, because the car is so amazing!

As it stands the only wart on the 2022 M3 is the grill, but I have grudgingly grown to accept it. That snout was not gonna stop me.

A week or two before we went 150 I added the CF exterior pack, and I would have had HUGE regrets had I not checked that box. I love this car and it is the perfect build for us!

I did not consider any other interior color when ordering my DG G83.

Agree and agree. Gotta have the exterior carbon pack! The honeycomb vents look very out of place on the front end.

I think I recall you posting that pic in the DG thread, and it was one of the pics I looked at a lot before we went 150!

Thanks!
