Seems a lot of ppl are taking the perfect calibration of different scales for granted. I am way more curious to see a F vs G comparison with similar builds on the same scale, same fuel quantity, same day etc.

This is good info. I always knew this car was not 500 lbs heavier like people were saying. It is tiring to see all the hate. BUT, we should not use these threads to rub it in their faces either. Frankly, I couldn't care less about proving doubters wrong. It is clearly an obsession on their part to hate this car and that's their perogative, though I genuinely feel bad for them. I have no idea why people keep coming back and talking about, staring at, incessantly commenting about something they purportedly hate. It's mentally unhealthy. I personally have too much drama in my RL to add stuff that stresses me out from the internet so not sure why people would want to do that.
So, let's not do the same on the other end of the scale. Rather than rubbing it in their faces and calling them out on every opportunity as the new M car reviews, tests and specs come in, let's just enjoy these cars for what they are... the latest generation of the M3/4. Let's appreciate BMW for still making a driver focused car, one that still comes with a manual gearbox, one that is not insanely heavy, one that is still very reasonably priced and that improves on many aspects of the F8x, including all performance specs. |

Every time I see someone weighing their road car I wonder what someone does with this information. How would the owner's life change if the number on the scale was 300 lbs lighter or heavier?

In regards to the AWD and all the weight anxiety, my advice would be to not talk yourselves out of it or let someone else talk you out of it based on impact speculation until we’ve seen the performance numbers.
It’s likely going to be very similar to early R35 GTR models in performance. A quality AWD car in the 3800-4000 lbs range with 480 - 550 hp but until we’ve seen it who knows. It seems a lot of people are going to miss out on the G8X RWD and AWD due to faulty assumptions on what it looks like or perform like. Don’t be one of them. |

The fanbois got all excited when they saw 3767 and threw all objectivity and the few litres of gas out the window shouting 3767 is great. When this is pointed out, weight of the car is no longer relevant

I also truly believe BMW have a light weight option on the horizon with light body parts and features for those who want a real stripper version with an S58! Yeah it won't be cheap, but what is nowadays?

If you are so concerned about the weight of your car and don't care about how comfortable it is, or how loud it is during long drives go buy an Aerial Atom. That might be the lightest street legal car but enjoy your commute in that thing. Sure is the F10 a little heavy? Absolutely, but she's comfortable and quiet on long trips, has four seats, and windows. The M3/M5 isn't meant to be a purpose built race car, it's a Swiss Army knife that can serve daily duty and weekend track days. The reality is you and 99.99% of M3 buyers will spend 50x the amount of time they spend on the track on the streets commuting. I plan on tracking the M3 8-10 times this summer (hopefully), and I still could care less about the weight. Further more HPDEs aren't race events, they are track days. No one cares if your passing them because your car is 200 lbs lighter

And it's good the car is not as heavy as anticipated, though no one can deny it is disappointing that there was generational increase in weight compared to the F3x chassis. As someone above pointed out, the G8x does supposedly not have a Lithium battery... Wonder why. F8x Li-ion battery is 12.5kg lighter than a comparable AGM unit. It's the little things that count; one kilo here and there.

I am indeed looking forward to what BMW will cook-up for the CS/CSL variants, there seems to be a lot of opportunity on the table . If the performance and price is right, it might be enough to bring me back to ///M .
