Yeah I agree, but having BMW software work the way that makes the most sense is apparently too much to ask for.

Mine is always on Auto and it doesn’t do it. Stays in revere. It’s always been this way.

No worry, as long as you're happy. Guess that you never searched for that function and dont even know how many bmw cars with it broken

This might be a stupid question, but your car definitely has a front camera yeah? Can you take a photo of the park assist screen?

My camera views shift around automatically to display whatever is closest. Sometimes it’s the side, others it’s the rear, etc.

I’d ask the dealer, but I don’t think it’s meant to be this way based on 1. Logic and 2. Others experiences. See what service says.

I'm not sure why people are being so stubborn. Perhaps this is a difference of iDrive 7 vs 8, but in iDrive 8 it *does not* switch cameras automatically. All the "auto" button does is give you the most contextually relevant camera, but it does *not* enable automatic switching based on drive state. I've tested this many times and in many different situations.

Yes that has been my experience. And my G05 has iDrive 7 and G80 has iDrive 8.
If I press auto then yes it will switch but next time around it doesn’t do it anymore. It stays in rear. I doubt both of my cars have problem.

This stupidity pisses me off too. Funny thing is that in EU cars it actually works, idk why BMW decided to code it out for US cars.

ICAMx[8081]\C_XV3D_COUNTRYVARIANT_NEXTMODE change from 'USA' to 'allgmein'

Need to change this parameter in the ICAM module. I did it with Protools on my G01/F97 X3M and it works perfectly.

Can you do this in Bimmercode? Or is this something that I should ask kubax86 to do when I have him do the CS and Anti-Dazzle?

Which module do you start from to go to expert mode for this?

Don't believe this is possible with only BimmerCode. You'd need ESYS w/ a launcher/bimmerutility.

I actually just did the anti-dazzle today and it was pretty easy. It does require a few things/licenses, but it was a breeze once everything clicked after reading a few PDFs. I can help via PM if you want to go that route.

Thanks, shoot me a PM if you don't mind.

But that module isn't available even in the advanced portion of Bimmercode?

Cannot be done with Bimmercode. Need something like ESYS. I did it with Protools.

I just had this coded this morning. When I got to work, I clicked the auto icon then turned the car off and locked it. Fingers crossed it remembers the auto setting when I go back out later!

Had this done by kubax86 this morning. Can confirm auto cameras now active and “sticky”!

The more I use the auto camera the better I like it...with one caveat. I love the fact that not only does it switch the cameras fore and aft but also the 3/4 view camera. Awesome.

My one caveat is that my garage that I park my car is so narrow that my PDC is alerting pretty much non-stop around the car. So in this case, it's constantly switching between rear view and both rear 3/4 cameras. LOL. Distracting and also the rear 3/4 views don't show me much...I already know I'm close, and it's not finely resolved enough to help me. top down and rear only is much better.

But otherwise love it.
