Really?

You can open/unlock any vehicle in a variety of ways. You can get into most cars in under a min with the right knowledge and tools.

You cannot start the car without the key. How
do you know he started it?

Likely scenario is they broke into the car and either 1. engaged the trans unlock (no idea where it is or if it exists in a G8x) or 2. yanked your car out of the parking space enough to lift the front end up. Put the trans in neutral via the electronic release and towed it.

Simple enough. How far was the tow yard from your apt?

If less than a few miles I would not worry.

In the video, he specifically states that "the M3/M4 don't have permanent all wheel drive"

distribution takes place in the control unit for Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)."
"Doesn't have permanent AWD" just could mean that "you can turn it off" or "rear power could be sent 100% to the back if necessary"

Your document is also for a G12, I don't think they're the same suspension.

It doesn't make sense that it's not default fully engaged since we have a specific "4WD" mode that's default and that you have to *specifically* disable DSC to allow full 2WD mode.

The document (ST1501 G12 Powertrain) is specified in the "Reference Manual / G80 - G82 Complete vehicle" (ST2108 G80-G82 Complete Vehicle _V2) document, when you go to page 56/57 and want to get more information about the xDrive system.

They state:

"The M xDrive used for the G80/G82 is based on the all-wheel drive of the G12 with the ATC13 transfer box and has been adopted from the F97/F98"

As to why they don't offer 2WD as an option without fully disabling DSC, I don't know and can only speculate.
