Why do dealers still bother to bait n switch?
I know they all do it. Leave cars up weeks longer than they have them. Or my favorite — bmw of Alexandria advertising a sticker price CS, and then disclosing a $20K adm several conversations in (which is what sparked this vent)
Clearly they do it because it does something for them, but I never do business with a dealer that’s done this to me. Does anyone?

I just don’t pay ADM, period. Plenty of other dealers to shop with across the country that may honor MSRP. Otherwise I’ll buy another model or make with no ADM.

I mean same. That’s the thing that pi**es me off. Tell me you’re doing ADM up front, and save both my time and yours. You aren’t going to change my mind by sneaking in a $20K up charge later.

They’ve been taught to generate a lead and start a conversation above all else. It’s a numbers game and it’s more productive to piss off a few to cast a wide net.
