Allocation update - March

I am currently number 8 at my regular dealership (relatively large high volume) at msrp. Today, on a whim I called a smaller dealership about an hour away (outside Fairfield county). I’m now currently number 2 at MSRP after putting down a small deposit. Smaller volume dealership may be the way to go

Yeah I don't mind waiting at all. At the end of the day, as long as the car gets delivered with a carbon roof I will be a happy camper.

I'm in the same situation, the problem with a small dealership is that they have maybe small waitlist but they never get an allocation. I'm 4th at a small dealer and the guy at #1 has been waiting for an allocation since September 2021.

True that. I called up one small dealership and they quoted me a lead time of 2 years because they rarely get allocations

Any dealer who gives you a time frame is basing their comments on pure conjecture. No one really knows anything.

When the bigger dealer hasn't responded to me I take that as bad news, so that's even scarier.

Still no allocations for G82's for March

My CA texted me and said he has one for me, got me all pumped up and then nothing when I asked for the details.

For those with multiple wait lists, at what point are you notifying other dealers they can take you off their list?

Does a production number map to and show the customer name?

When do you feel is a "safe" time to pull yourself off of other lists?

Is that no G82 allocations across the board or are they just not out yet? I ended up buying an Mfaux (G22 M440i) so at least I can have some fun while waiting for my M4.

I'd only take my name off when I have a confirmed production number.

Yep, agreed. The production week may get rescheduled (in fact you should expect that), but once you're at 111 (Order Accepted), it's not dealer-dependant and there's little point in remaining in more than one queue.

I have wondered this myself. I figured that I would take myself off the other lists as soon as I got a production number, but now I am wondering if I should be doing that or staying on until the car is closer to finished.

Thanks for all the feedback, CA was working overtime but got me my production number it is status 111 and walked me through adding it into My Garage to track. Note that this was an existing allocation that somebody backed out of so not a new allocation.

I was just noting that no members have posted receiving a G82 allocation all postings had been G80's but we did see a G83 come in late.

I currently have a G22 and it is a great car to bide your time with.

I guess this would work as a hedge in case one of them gets stuck in QC purgatory, but I'd quit while I'm ahead and give someone else a chance to build. Plus, some dealers may not refund deposits once a production order is placed.

I pulled my name off other dealer waitlists once I receive my production number.

My preferred dealer got me an allocation a week later and i passed it to a fellow member.

Yeah, anyone should assume that's the case. They aren't given timelines. They just base them of past experience and current conditions.

If you have an allocation, your dealer should be able to give you the production number right away.

Few dealers play tricks, no production number = no allocation.
