I will need to ask. But If you look at recent driving events M8 Gran Coupe,M5 and 4er that have either been postponed or cancelled because of the pandemic in favour of global regional launches. The M3/M4 might succom to the same fate?

I chose like but I actually love the design. I thought the 4 series concept looked amazing and the new M design is pretty damn outstanding IMO and that M performance quad center exhaust just put it over the top for me. With that said, I was looking to replace my F80 with an M4. But, I am disappointed at how tame the G82 M4 looks compared to the M3. I was hoping for more pronounced rear quarter panel flares. Maybe when I see them in real life, I'll change my mind. But right now, looks like I'll be getting another M3 in about 2 yrs.

With respect to the grille haters, I don't know. People are funny. They complain about how designers copy one another and how car X looks like car Y and so on and so forth. Then when BMW does something bold, that doesn't really look like any other car but yet is unmistakably BMW, they lose their minds. SMH. I chalk it up to a lack of an open mind.

I'm moving to Porsche because of everything on the G8x. I don't want to waste any money on that abomination.

Not very impressed with the BMW designer Domagoc Dukec, just wasn't able to quite pull off something great. It is obvious when the aftermarket renders are arguably better. Not their greatest M's. That is for sure.

The front is just not that aesthetically pleasing. It’s not just the grill, the entire front just looks unbalanced.
Despite that I could rationalize myself into getting over the front because the S58 seems solid and the rest of the exterior isn’t bad. But then they increased the weight to 4000lb so now it has 2 major things going against it.
I get they’re way different price points but if I wanted a heavy AWD performance sedan I would personally get a F90 or even M8 GC. The M3/4 is about that balance between looks, agility and performance and the G8x doesn’t do a great job in 2 of those categories. I won’t say I’m out completely but am heavily considering other options now.

That poll is specific to the grill of G2X non-m 4-series. This poll is regarding overall design of the G8X M3, M4

I like both interpretations of Grilles. But give the M3/M4 the edge, they just look overly aggressive. It's something severely lacking in an M car for quite a while. Everyone would have complained that it's just a 3er or a smaller M8... At least BMW M. Can now say you know what? it doesn't. Not any more.

You have heard the term "Stunning and Brave" given to someone who says something edgy?
Well this is just direct "Fuck You" which I think should be applauded.
I find that especially delicious that there is a glitch in the matrix that allows the more radical choices to intercept and take over the conventional.
It just screams I am not boring. I am no way conventional. I value my own identity rather then let others decide it for me.
And we need more of this.

I think they looked at the m3s competitors who outside of alfa which has huge reliability issues are mostly run of the mill looking sedans that dont stand out from the rest of the brand's lineup. Can totally see why people dislike the G80 but bmw certainly made the change to capture some of that market for people that want more than just an elegant under the radar sleeper car. It certainly could backfire I guess time will tell. I see a lot of...'im switching to Porsche' posts but porsche really doesn't have a comparable car. Panamera is much heavier and the 911 youre giving up practicality and theres a big increase in $$$. Cayman your trunk space gets split and you lose the rear seats.

Skewed poll since lot of members were banned from the G8X forum for being critical of it.

Yup, this comment sums up well the new direction BMW ///M is taking and why I’ll now be changing brands after 20 years.

They weren't banned for being critical. They were banned for being Karens. You are allowed to like it or hate it but your opinion isn't more important than anyone else's and spamming multiple threads over and over about how much you hate it isn't conducive to good forum discussion.

True in some cases. But regardless of the reason for the ban, it still skews the results of the survey.

I originally disliked the look but reserved final judgement until seeing it in real life. Well... was at a dealer today and finally saw a G82 that appeared to be neon-yellow in color.

I'm sorry but, and at the risk of being banned and as much as I tried to like it, I still don't like it. Starting with the elephant in the room - the grille - it's just too big and not in a good way like Audi Singleframe grille or Mercedes' newer Trapezoid grille. It still look like a big pig snout to me. Maybe I'll learn not to dislike it like the Lexus Spindle grille that has finally grown on me, but I've never bought a car hoping it'll grow on me someday.

Going on to the side, the lines just don't seem to flow, like something is off. I like the lines of the G80 better but I only got to see the G82 in real life. To the rear, looks like Japanese design to me. It's ok, not bad.

Overall, I'm keeping my F80 for now and will wait and see how the G80 LCI appears in a few years. If it doesn't work out then I guess my 25+ years of buying BMW will have ended.

No it doesn't. It's a forum poll only and all members are free to vote. If a poster conducts themself in a manner that gets them banned then they are not a member and do not have a vote. There could be plenty of other banned posters that if present may vote the other direction so it is what it is. Some of you that are hoping for a landslide vote against the styling simply need to accept that not everyone shares your opinion and some people actually like the styling.
