It's not even the grill anymore I just don't like the way they designed the lower fascia.

As the Kübler Ross grief cycle goes, once folks get past the acceptance stage of the larger size and the front grille, a boat load of M3/4 loyalists will buy these.
Engine note sounds exciting. I'm shooting for an M3 "Pure" myself.

Y'all going to get past the grill after a test drive cause it's still BMW and one of the few company who puts effort in the driving dynamics.
I got a loaner BMW 8 speed yesterday and yes at full send it really did not respond like my DCT but what I hear in this video sounds not too bad If we get 80% of the dct's performance it will do it.. PS: I don't like the grill

Wow, seeing them beside older BMW cars, they really look huge
Nice driving from the test drivers though

I'm tired of talking about the grills so lemme focus on the sound: it's a low flat note that I hope they improve. Right now it's just meh. Please note that adding burbles does not "improve" anything
I actually got excited with the soundtrack at 0:49 until I realized that the prototype was following a Porsche |

The x3m is a good directional base but there are going to be differences between the suvs and the cars, It will not be copy/paste. the M3 and M4 necessarily have different length system as well as a different muffler design to fit them specifically. How different bmw tunes the sound remains to be heard....

Disregarding everything else, still sounds like a wet fart in a tin can.

This is just my opinion:
It is a pity that this is happening to the most iconic BMW model. I don't see anything BMW in this car, I do see an "Instagramable" car. A car that will sell for the hype of the controversy. For thinking it's a step forward when it is, at best, just a step aside. It is not an evolution. It is the stepping out of the line that was being drawn over the years, without need for that. It seems to me a design made by laziness, stealing from here and there: Rear lights of a Lexus, headlights of a Giulia, grill badly stolen of the 1930s, and a lack of respect for the aggressiveness that an M3 / M4 must have. The front bumper is a joke. There is no intelligent air opening, no aggressiveness, no "WOW" factor for those who see it through the rear view mirror. It's just ugly. Of course it will sell. It will sell because it is advertised as a step-up, as a break in the routine. But it is not. It's just pathetic. Its ugly. It's disrespectful. It's a 2020 car, unfortunately: Egocentric, influencer and spoiled by his parents. But it has a spectacular engine. |

Cool video, but I view the sliding and fighting for traction negatively. Let'a hope this testing helps fix that.

I need to see the car in person, but it looks big. 5 series sized. I am not a huge fan of the grills in pictures, but I’ll wait to see them in person. If this car is going to tip the scales at 3900-4100 lbs with AWD though, that is probably more of a deal breaker for me. |
