Combining Michelin * and non-* winter tyres
Summer is yet to come and i am already thinking about my winter wheels. Still a lot of time before i need to decide.
For me there are 2 options : 1) the OEM M829 winter wheels with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 275/35-19 on all 4 wheels. This set is offered for about 3600 Euro completely. 2) Alternatively i am thinking about M826 wheels in Jetblack. Surprisingly these wheels in Jetblack are relatively cheep as BMW parts. The Bicolor M826 are much more expensive though. 4 M826 wheels (19'' front and 20'' rear) with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 winter tyres (275/35-19 front and 285/30-20 rear) will come around 3800 - 3900 Euro completely. So not a huge difference with the M829 OEM 19'' set. The only problem here is that i can find the front tyres only as Pilot Alpin 5 with BMW * marking, and the rear tyres only as Pilot Alpin 5 without the BMW * marking. I am thinking the difference between the 2 different versions will not be huge so it will not be a problem, but i would like to hear this forum's opinion on this. If i switch to other brands of winter tyres (for instance Pirelli) i am getting the same problems by the way. There are not many brands available as winter tyres for the 285/30-20 size.... |
