Connect wirelessly. The car doesn't support wired CarPlay

Not sure about music on phone but I had similar issue with 1T SSD with music on it. The center USB C does not read the SSD at all but it works fine on the USB A connection in front.

Later I tried to connect using a very good USB C cable and the car can see all the music.

So you may have to try different cables.

Per the manual, only the USB A port in front of the cupholders has a data connection. The center console and rear ports are power only.

Can elaborate on getting data recognized with the console port?

I dont think that's correct information you got there. I never tried the rear ports (never sit at the back anyway, and I dont really care) but the center Console read all types of USB C stick / card reader etc... before I hooked up with big 1TB SSD (not working at first due to USB cable). As mentioned previously, I tried a new USB cable and it also worked fine.

I tried a few different USB A to C adapters (not cables) with no luck. This was using a 128GB USB flash drive with audio files.

I use 128Gb Micro SD in a USB C reader.

I dont think the A to C USB adapter would work. It needs to be a native USB C reader.

Another question--is your car iD7 or iD8? Wondering if there might be a change between them. Mine is iD8.

I used an adapter for a few days while waiting for a USB-C stick to show up when I got my car. Since then I've been running a 256GB USB-C stick armrest compartment with no issues (FAT32 format).

I suspect this is iD7 vs iD8. Mine ports are marked in line with the manual too. Don't know why they would do that if the functionality existed.

I have had no issues using usb-c flash drives in the center console. That's how i listen to my music. I am on ID7 though.

My is id7. It also comes down to the type of hard drive as well.

I was using USB C to USB A cable to connect my 1TB Toshiba hard drive (the spinning disk) and NO problem. But when I hooked up the Samsung 1TB SSD with USB C to USB C cable then it does not read. Then swapping a different cable and it worked.
