Black PA License Plate

Question, for PA or non-PA memebers, do any you guys have black PA plates? PA plates are the hideous blue, white and blue but I’ve seen a few cars, recently a blacked out F80 with black PA plates. Do any of you guys have them? Where did you get them? And more importantly, have you had any trouble with the state troopers? I really want to get them but nervous about getting a ticket.

Not familiar with black plates...unless you mean the D.A.R.E..which is issued by the state, so not sure why that would be a problem

Not the DARE plates. But I’ve seen guys driving around with license plates that black with white lettering. Here’s a picture of it.

Uh--wow...that looks pretty cool. But that was not on the PA DOT site as an option, so am guessing that is not issued by the state and therefore would be deemed illegal. I'd be careful going that route.

Definitely illegal but cops that I’ve talked to said that as long as the plate reads legit then they usually don’t care..

You can get them off Etsy and what not. I think it’s neat to throw on when going to a meet or something but I wouldn’t daily drive those plates

Yeah we all run them. Havent had an issue and i have been followed multiple times and have been asked a few times about them by cops

No black plates are currently available in PA although a new law has passed in the House and if approved by the Senate will ultimately allow custom plates from approved vendors:

I didn't think there was a PA Dare plate anymore. Did they bring it back?

No they didn’t. I wish I had gotten one. These are just straight black plates with white lettering.

the trick to the PA Dare plate is, there is a company that makes replica dare plates, just change your registration to something with DA in front, then run the replica.

I run full-time and haven't had any issues even at the tunnels / bridges where they look. I've even been pulled over. It matches my paperwork.
